Rihanna Receives Flowers From PETA Because…

Rihanna receives flowers from PETA

And they weren't rigged to explode paint on any of her clothes either!

To create her new perfume Reb'l Fleur, Rihanna has teamed up with prestigious cosmetics company Parlux Fragrances, Inc., which signed PETA's assurance in 1995 that it does not conduct or pay others to conduct tests on animals.

PETA Senior Vice President, Dan Mathews, says:

"Rihanna's decision to team up with Parlux is as kind to animals as her music is to your ears. By renouncing animal tests, Parlux is proving that beauty doesn't have to have an ugly side."

To thank her for her wise choice, they sent a lovely bouquet of flowers.

Reb'l Fleur will hit store shelves on January 25, and the name of the fragrance comes from a nickname that was given to Rihanna by her grandmother.

To get more information on companies that USE or DO NOT USE animals in cosmetics and household product tests, check out PETA's website.

Thanks, Rihanna!

6 Top Spots To Bird-Watch In Southern California

6 places to bird-watch

If you live in the Southern California area and are into bird watching or just feel like trying it out for fun one day, here are 6 great spots to catch a glimpse of the best birds!

Observe endangered seabirds at the Guadalupe Dunes in Guadalupe, CA, where tiny western snowy plovers lay their delicate eggs undisturbed between the ocean and the sandy dunes.

Species of endangered birds make their home along the north side of Batiquitos Lagoon in Carlsbad, California near the Four Seasons Aviara Resort. An easy 2 mile hiking trail makes it easy to walk or jog through this beautiful coastal wetland to spot many endangered species living in the untouched nature.

A few miles south of San Diego on the westernmost edge of the US-Mexico border, Border Field State Park is home to hundreds of bird species. The nature preserve encompasses scorched frontier land, freshwater marshes, the Tijuana River Estuary, and a beach that is generally deserted aside from the occasional lone fisherman and watchful Border Patrol guards.

298 different species of birds can be sighted on the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve, which is one of San Diego County's largest coastal wetlands. Covering approximately a thousand acres of diverse habitat with over six miles of hiking trails makes this a perfect place to spot birds, amongst other animals living in the diverse ecological habitat.

The El Dorado Nature Center exists in Long Beach, CA where the only intrusion is the dull whoosh of nearby freeway traffic, which quickly is lost amidst the four miles of wooded trails laced with birds everywhere and a visitor center to explain it all.

Converted from a landfill to a beautiful 87-acre public garden in 1959, the South Coast Botanic Garden, in the rolling hills of Palos Verdes just south of Los Angeles, is home to 200 species of birds and 2,000 species of plants!

If you're ever bored on a sunny, warm weekend, forget the dull movie theatre and take in simple beauty of nature at any of these places. Enjoy!
