Beekeepers Ask The EPA To Ban A Pesticide Toxic To Bees

bee-honey-epa.jpg

A group of commercial beekeepers has filed a petition to ask the EPA to regulate the use of a pesticide that has proved toxic to honey bees.

These chemicals kill certain insects but are supposed to leave the good ones (in this case bees) unharmed.

But what happened is the poison can lead to a weakened immune system in the bees, which could contribute to colony collapse disorder.

Colony collapse disorder is where all the adult honeybees in a colony suddenly die or disappear.

Other countries have already banned these types of insecticides.

A professor of entomology (bug doctor) said:

"The EPA admits that their testing has not been adequate to determine the impact of this chemical on bees and pollinators."

So maybe it's time for the EPA takes another look at the pesticides they allow to be used.

The bees are vital to over one-third of all of America's crops.

Save the bees!

Truck Crashes And Releases Millions Of Bees

Bees!

In southern Utah, an 18-wheeler overturned, releasing its cargo… millions of bees!!

25 million to be exact.

Officials closed down the road as the angry swarms of millions of bees flew around the interstate.

Even though the driver and passenger of the truck and several emergency responders on the scene were stung, no one was seriously injured.

Beekeepers were eventually brought in to help.

They took the boxes that housed the bee colonies and set them out. One beekeeper said:

"A lot of bees will go back in. After dark they don't fly, they just crawl around."

They are estimating about two-thirds of the 25 million bees were recovered.

The rest are going to stay around the same stretch of highway for a week or so before dispersing, so motorists on I-15 in southern Utah are being told to keep their windows shut.

Last thing you need while driving is a couple million bees flying into your car.

95 Year Old Badass Survives 500+ Bee Stings

95 Year Old Takes 500 Bee Stings

Holy hell!

If we were stung like this guy, we'd be done for — and we are no where near 95 years old!

"A pissed off swarm of Africanized honey bees attacked a 95-year-old man in California yesterday, stinging him hundreds of times. A police sergeant told the LAT, "Most men would have died, but he's taking it in stride."

That gives us the creepy crawlies, and also an inferiority complex.

Hope you feel better, sir! Not sure you'll ever have to pay for a beer again!
