Josh Duhamel Fergie

Hooray for celeb couples who love charity!

Fergie got the Black Eyed Peas together to put on a benefit show in Josh Duhamel's recently flooded hometown of Minot, North Dakota and raised $1.3 million for relief efforts!

The money went toward the much needed Minot Area Recovery Fund which is bankrolling the town's rebuilding efforts after flood waters forced 11,000 residents out of their homes in June.

Duhamel showed his appreciation for his wife's band on Twitter after their performance Sunday, tweeting:

"A HUGE thank you to @iamwill, @TabBep, @apl_de & #Fergie for their incredible act of kindness for doing #MinotRising. North Dakota loves you."

Will.i.am. responded warmly with:

"@joshduhamel i.am proud to support #MinotRising…this is what its all about…'Americans helping americans' one neighborhood United States."

Sorry Jay-Z and Kanye, but this may have been one of our favorite collaborations of the year! Thanks to helping out those in need, guys (gal)!

Cyndi Lauper Hopes To Help Japan Through Her Music

Cyndi Lauper helps out Japan

Pop star Cyndi Lauper is helping Japan's disaster relief that only way she knows how: Singing!

With concerts scheduled for tonight and tomorrow in Osaka while touring Japan to promote her new Memphis Blues album, she plans on doing radio and TV charity events before each show.

On top of donating ALL her Memphis Blues royalties earned in Japan to the Japanese Red Cross, she will be collecting money from fans to donate, and has even recorded a ringtone to sell in Japan with 100% of the proceeds going to help victims of the disaster.

Perhaps the singer feels so close to this disaster because she was THERE during the earthquake! Despite being urged to leave, they didn't feel they were in imminent danger so they elected to stay and offer support through music.

This past Friday, she tweeted:

"The shows have been enlightening. The strength and dignity of the people here have been inspiring. I hope we helped them feel better xx"

We're sure you did! Thank you, Cyndi!

John Mayer Premieres New Song For Good Cause

How nice!

John Mayer was on hand at the Blythedale Children's Hospital in New York yesterday, performing as part of a benefit concert for the kiddies.

He even premiered a brand new song called the Age of Worry, which you can hear in the video (above)!

Kind of a somber tune for the occasion, but we're happy to see him lending his voice to a good cause!

Condoleezza Rice Performs On Stage With Aretha Franklin!

wenn2941362jb.jpg

We give her a lot of credit for going up there and performing with such a legend! It must have been pretty bizarre - but awesome - to be there to see it!

Last night Aretha Franklin was joined on stage at Philadelphia's Mann Music Center by none other than Condoleezza Rice for a benefit concert for urban children!

The former Secretary of State performed on the piano while Franklin sang I Say A Little Prayer and My Country 'Tis of Thee, and although many critics considered Rice's performance a little "safe," The Washington Post asserts that the collaboration "had kind of a goofy brilliance."

Franklin said:

"All I had seen of Dr. Rice was in a political atmosphere. It just seemed foreign that she would be a classical pianist. She really does play. She's formidable. We decided to give it a try. So here we are, in the city of Brotherly – and Sisterly – Love."

So cool!

Maybe Condoleezza will forgo politics and become a musical superstar! LOLs!

Or not - but kudos, bb! We are sincerely impressed!

Thoughts??

Although it was being reported that Madonna is planning a benefit concert for Malawi, the queen of pop's organization, Raising Malawi, has released the following statement:

This past weekend, reports circulated regarding a Raising Malawi benefit concert in Blantyre, Malawi. These reports are entirely false; Raising Malawi and Madonna have no plans to host such an event.

To learn how you can support the work of Raising Malawi, please visit here.

Too bad! We thought it would have been a good idea!

Lenny Kravitz Headlining Benefit Concert For Louisiana Coastline

wenn2764621.jpg

In order to help salvage the Louisiana coastline from the massive oil spill, Lenny Kravitz is headlining a benefit concert to fund relief efforts.

The US government made BP responsible for the clean-up costs, but many believe that the area is so devastated that their money is just not enough. Local business and wildlife are both under tremendous strife.

Mos Def, Ani DiFranco and Allen Toussaint have also agreed to perform at the event at Mardi Gras World River City this Sunday.

Such a great cause.
