Ridley Scott WON'T Be Played Off The Stage When The Martian Lands Best Motion Picture, Musical Or Comedy, At The 2016 Golden Globes!

Filed under: Matt DamonFilm FlickersAwardzGolden Globes

Unlike the Oscars, the Golden Globes recognize Comedy and Musical films separately from Drama!

And that's good news for The Martian!

Related: 11 Movies That Had NO BUSINESS Being In The 'Musical Or Comedy' Category!

In a tough category that included The Big Short, Joy, Spy, and Trainwreck, the funny flick took the gold — despite being ripped on throughout the ceremony for not necessarily being the funniest movie!

Even director Ridley Scott made a joke about the categorization of the space dram(edy) starring Matt Damon!

The filmmaker would NOT back down from being played off either — he expertly went through his SEVERAL notecards, and said "screw you" when the music came on to cue him to wrap it up! LOLz!

Ch-ch-check out the funny (not dramatic) speech (above)!

Oscars May Be Making A Return To Its Former Format… You Know, Only Having FIVE Best Picture Nominees?!

They're changing it again?!

Six years ago there was a rule change that made it possible for ten films to be nominated for the Best Picture category at the Oscars.

That happened in 2009 after The Dark Knight wasn't nominated for Best Picture, but apparently the voters in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have NOT been impressed with the results so far from having a maximum of ten movies nominated instead of the old rule of just having five!

And although there is no official change on the horizon — it could happen soon since the Academy's board of governors are set to meet on March 24th to discuss some things!

Birdman Wins Best Picture At 2015 Oscars!

And of course they saved the best for last!

It was an extremely competitive year for cinema but one film has to come out on top!

And that film was…

Birdman!

The film directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu was head-to-head with Boyhood, but ultimately the film starring Michael Keaton came out as the winner!

It's not entirely a surprise. The Academy is notorious for awarding films about the film industry!

Congratulations to the cast and crew for this HUGE accomplishment! And kudos to the other films that were nominated. Overall, it was a great year for movies!

Check out all the night's winners HERE!
