Reese Witherspoon's Dad Accused Of Bigamy!

reesewitherspoondadbigamy.jpg

It's the real life version of Big Love.

Reese Witherspoon's parents are in some DRAMA.

A newspaper ad recently announced that John Witherspoon and Tricianne Taylor had married on January 14th in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and the reception for the wedding was gonna happen in the summer time.

That doesn't seem likely anymore!

Betty Witherspoon has filed a lawsuit against her husband and wants his new marriage annulled and is also accusing him of bigamy!

PLUS she's filed a restraining order against his new "wife."

Reese's Mom is worried that this new woman is going to try and steal the Witherspoon name and subsequently steal money from her and her husband.

Reese's parents have been separated since 1996.

They ARE still married, though.

Here's what the restraining order said:

"You are hereby enjoined and restrained from using or attempting to use the last name Witherspoon for any purpose."

The lawsuit against the father claims that he cannot be legally married to Tricianne because he is still married to Betty.

For her part Reese's mom said she still loves her husband and isn't actively seeking a divorce. She claims her husband has alcohol abuse problems, hoarding and overspending.

She said:

"When I confronted my husband, he said he didn't know who Tricianne Taylor was and that he did not remember getting married."

Betty Witherspoon said she believes her husband is suffering from early onset dementia.

If that's true then that is so terrible!

Hold on to your seat, folks, because things are about to get into messy and legal - DOMESTIC STYLE.

We'll see what happens, though.

Sister Wives Family Bringing Utah To Court Over Bigamy Law

Filed under: Legal MattersLove LineReality TV

sister wives vs utah

Watch Out, Utah! Kody and his wives are coming for you!

Back in January, the Sister Wives family moved to Nevada, and at the time they SAID their reasoning was to "explore new job opportunities."

We'd say, though, that a major influence for the move was the fact that Kody Brown can live with 4 wives legally in Nevada.

While Kody and his wives may have moved on to Nevada, they're still unhappy about Utah's bigamy law, which makes their polygamous lifestyle illegal, and they've decided to fight it in court.

The Sister Wives family's attorney Jonathan Turley says their lawsuit will "challenge Utah's right to prosecute people for their private relationships."

Here's a statement from the family:

"We are not demanding the recognition of polygamous marriage. We are only challenging the right of the state to prosecute people for their private relations and demanding equal treatment with other citizens in living their lives according to their own beliefs."

This is a pret-ty big issue, but the Sister Wives family are certainly widely known, so at the very least they'll bring lots of awareness to the issue of the legality of polygamous marriage.

What do U think about this lawsuit? Do U think the Sister Wives family have a case here?

Sister Wives Husband Most Likely Will Not Be Prosecuted

What a lucky break!

Looks like Kody Brown and his Sister Wives won't be convicted after all.

Law enforcement officials say that polygamous families in Utah typically don't get prosecuted because they don't have enough resources and evidence to go after the families.

The only time polygamous families are targeted is when a more serious crime is involved such as marrying underaged girls, false imprisonment, or anything violent.

Jeff Buhman, from the Utah County Attorney's office, says, "In my experience … there has never been a traditional polygamist family charged with the sole crime of bigamy."

Kody Brown better thank his lucky stars (and hope he doesn't have a criminal past) because looks like he and his multiple wives will be off the hook.

See how much they care about those 13 kids they've got. Whose to take care of them if you're all in prison?!

As many of you are probably well aware, polygamy is illegal in the United States and bigamy isn't well received either, even in Utah, where the stars of the new TLC show Sister Wives reside. As we reported this morning, The Brown Family are under investigation for their untraditional lifestyle.

When reached for comment, the family admitted they were "disappointed in the announcement of an investigation", but that they realized what they were in for when they signed up for the the show. They say that the show is worth it:

"For the sake of our family, and most importantly, our kids, we felt it was a risk worth taking."

We'll see about that!

Sister Wives Under Investigation For Felony Bigamy

Took ya'll long enough!

Not surprisingly, a full investigation of the stars of Sister Wives is under way, looking into charging the family with felony bigamy, which is a third degree felony in Utah. Supposedly, police in Lehi, Utah have been looking into the untraditional practices of Kody Brown and his four wives even before the show premiered on TLC.

Lt. Darren Paul of the force reveals that once they have completed their investigation, "the evidence will be forwarded to the Utah County Attorney's Office for review and possible prosecution."

Make sure to record next week's episode to add to the evidence pile! That'll sure help your case! Oh, and their appearance on Good Morning America, where Kody flat out admits he is only lawfully married to one woman.

Good luck!

P.S. - Anyone else smelling the makings of the season finale???
