Fashion Star Suffers Poorly Rated Premiere

fashion star premiere ratings

Whomp-whomp.

Unfortunately, Fashion Star didn't premiere to execs' great expectations.

The Elle Macpherson-hosted show was only able to rake in 4.55 million total viewers, scoring a less than stellar 1.6 demo rating.

After losing 20% of its Biggest Loser lead-in, not even a pre-bump Jessica Simpson could save this one.

Welp! Maybe people are still getting used to the daylight saving changes. Better luck next week!

The Biggest Loser Gets Fashionable

Contestants on NBC’s The Biggest Loser are in for a special treat — calorie free of course.

The show’s annual makeover episode airs this May 3rd, but this time around the thinner hotties are going to look even better.

Fashion guru Tim Gunn will be helping the contestants look their best by styling them all.

Gunn reveals:

"Everyone thinks with their own aesthetic, but [they] put their preferences on the shelf and said, 'Tim I am part of your fairytale, let's do this together.' We had a blast."

And to match their new outfits, celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves will be giving them new ‘dos.

Paves adds:

"It's so gratifying. I have the luxury of reintroducing women to themselves [when] they've forgotten how damn special they are. When you can take a woman like that and make her look so special, and she looks in the mirror and likes what she sees…that's the greatest part of what I'm doing and what I get to do."

Can't wait to see the amazing results!

Redbook just couldn’t decide decide on one celeb for their January 2011 cover so instead they went with three.

Appearing on separate covers next year is Bethenney Frankel along with Alison Sweeney and Padma Lakshmi.

The ladies open up about their personal lives and also reveal their weight loss secrets and share their own tips.

Check out some of the HIGHlights below:

Bethenny Frankel
On turning 40: “I would love to have a second child, and it’s not something I have time to wait for. You really experience your biological clock if you’re my age.”

On staying fit: “You shouldn’t dread working out. Exercise is like an old friend: You may not be able to see that friend all the time, but you’re not mad when you see them, you’re happy, and you get right back into it. I do yoga at night with my husband [after] we put the baby down. I say, a family that namastes together stays together.”

Alison Sweeney
Her best Biggest Loser weight-loss tip: “I was a really conscientious eater during the day, but then at night I found myself snacking on the worst stuff. [Biggest Loser trainer] Jillian Michaels said I was just tired and craving energy; my body needed more fuel to stay awake. So now, when I crave sugar at night, I go to bed.”

Padma Lakshmi
Her biggest surprise about her body post-baby: “That I liked myself at a bigger size. I wanted to lose the weight, but I thought I was doing something more important than tending to my vanity. You look at your body totally differently. It created this life and brought it into the world.”

If U have to pick, which cover do you like best?

Makeover Time

After working hard to lose so much weight, the contestants of this season's The Biggest Loser: Couples will soon be getting their celebrity-styled makeovers.

And we use the term "celebrity" lightly. Hah.

Set to style the couples will be singer Ashanti and helping her will be Shear Genius judge, Jonathan Antin.

The episode, which airs on May 4th, will feature each of the remaining six contestants getting $1,000 to go on a shopping spree at their favorite store.

Ashanti will be on hand to help them while Antin will style their hair before their big reveal.

Hopefully they don't all end up dressing like Ashanti!

Dress Like A Loser

It took them long enough!

NBC and Reveille LLC have partnered up with Australian designer Bruno Schiavi to create a Biggest Loser athletic line for men and women.

The 27-piece collection ranging in sizes from S to 5XL will include compression tops, shirts, jackets that are cut longer to cover bottoms and shorts that will feature high cut waistbands to hold in the stomach.

Now that's smart!

Schiavi, who helped design Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr Rey's shapewear line, explains

"I wanted to create an inspiring and motivational collection that was both functional and stylish. Nobody else really does fashionable pieces in larger sizes; they all look like sacks…Everyone’s watching you at the gym, so that’s where you want to look and feel good. It’s about building self-esteem and encouraging people to take the first step toward a healthier lifestyle."

We're sure it will be a hit when the line hits stores in September just in time for the 10th season!

K-Swiss Toughens Up With Jillian Michaels

wenn2478299_e.jpg

Hard ass trainer Jillian Michaels has landed a job outside The Biggest Loser ranch as the new brand ambassador for K-Swiss.

The multi-year deal means that Jillian will be hawking the brand's Tubes training and running products, which she's already been integrating into her Bigger Loser wardrobe.

And not surprisingly, the deal could eventually lead to a co-branded line that will no doubt be finagled into Jillian's new show Losing It With Jillian as well as the Biggest Loser.

The loud trainer said of her new gig "My goal with K-Swiss is to create fun, affordable athletic wear that people can live in and work out in."

Now if only they could package her to actually make those go to the gym while wearing her clothes.
