Connecticut will soon join the District of Columbia and 16 other states who have already legalized medical marijuana.

The Connecticut Senate just passed a bill legalizing weed for medical purposes.

The state senators voted 21-to-13 to pass the bill after almost ten hours of debate.

Connecticut's Democratic governor, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, supported the measure and is expected to sign it into law.

Great news for all you dope smokers out there.

Though maybe not. They plan on making things different than California, who will basically toss a bong at a scraped knee.

Their bill outlines very specific diseases that would be treated with pot.

To get a prescription, a patient would need to get a recommendation from their physician and then follow the rules of the licensing procedures for patients, caregivers and growers.
