Dionne Warwick has decided to challenge Bill Clinton to focus on helping those with aids here at home before other countries.
Warwick insisted more needs to be done to tackle the illness in local American neighbourhoods in cities such as New York, where former leader Clinton has an office. The singer went on to announce she wants to set up a meeting with Clinton, who founded the Clinton Health Access Initiative to tackle diseases such as Aids across the world, and urge him to turn his attention to the crisis at home.
We can see that, but that doesn't mean we should turn a blind eye on those outside of the country who need help too! Especially those who don't have access to the kind of protection and treatments as we do!
Here's what she said:
"He has done an enormous amount of work outside the country… I will confront President Clinton and ask why (he doesn't focus on America)… It's as dire (in the U.S.) as anywhere. (Clinton) can look out of his office window… I want to get an appointment with him… I also want to make it clear that he is concerned about his next-door neighbour."
As long as people are being helped, it's a good cause. Is one really better than another? ALL people suffering with aids and at risk for it should be considered a priority!
This is hard for us to take a stance on either way, because we do love and know those here at home. But we just want to help everyone, without having to pick and choose!
