Since Bill Clinton has said that being vegan doesn't suck, he obviously had an agenda behind that thought… and now we know!

Last week, the former Prez took a trip to Sacramento where chef Adam Pechal made him and his staff a vegan meal.

Pechal said:

"Cooking vegan is not my forte, but I love a challenge. This was a once in a lifetime thing.”

With the challenge in order, the city's renowned newspaper, the Sacramento Bee revealed what Clinton indulged in.

Russell Simmons Named PETA's Person Of The Year

Russell Simmons has now joined the ranks of Bill Clinton, Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey and more as PETA's person of the year!

Ever since Simmons learned about the yogic principal of 'ahimsa,' which means "doing no harm," he has rejected the meat industry.

His outspoken public advocacy of peace and respect for all living beings, regardless of race, religion, gender or even species is what earned him the title PETA's Person of the Year 2011.

Simmons said:

"The horrible abuse of animals is the worst karmic disaster in the history of human kind. The work that PETA does to combat this catastrophe is amazing.

I'm truly humbled to be chosen as this year's Person of the Year, but the praise should go to the hundreds of thousands of volunteers that are on the ground doing the work. I accept this honor on their behalf."

PETA's Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said:

"Simmons' philosophy—that everyone should stick up for the little guy—is one that everyone can follow."

So c'mon everyone, let's follow him!

Live a life of peace and respect for everyone and everything around you!

Bill Clinton Says Being Vegan Doesn’t Suck

Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton has gone totally vegan… sort of.

During an interview with Rachael Ray, he said he’s mostly vegan:

“I’m very careful, because strict vegans not only don’t eat any meat or fish or dairy products, but they don’t ever eat any processed breads and they’re very careful what kind of oil goes into their food. So I, you know, I can’t quite make that. My daughter, who was a vegetarian most of her life, beats up on me to eat more fish so I maybe have fish a little bit, once or twice a month, but I sort of lost the taste for all of it.”

When asked what foods he missed, he actually, surpisingly, didn’t seem to miss any, saying:

“You know, last year at Thanksgiving…I had, literally, I had one bite of turkey and one bite of ham. A bite. And I didn’t want it. And about once a year I have one bite of steak, and I don’t want it anymore.”

Wow, that must make being vegan a whole lot easier.

Matt Lauer also asked the former president if being a vegan “sucked.” Clinton responded:

“You know, when you get older your appetites change and abate, and you’re more interested in having another good day. So I’d like to have as many good days as possible, and this seems to be the best way to get it.”

Even if it’s less about the animals and more about the health, the animals still benefit, so that’s good. Unless you’re a tuna:

“I get a protein hunger so I, you know, I do eat fish from time to time, a little fish. I’ll eat uh, you know, a couple bites of fish or a little tuna fish if I get hungry.”

Regardless, being vegan is hard. So , you go, former president Bill Clinton!

Hilary Clinton Gets By With A Little Help From Her Dogs

Hilary Talks dogs

One of the most powerful women in the world uses her dogs to help deal with the stress of the job. Hilary Rodham Clinton says coming home to her dogs Seamus and Tally is "Just a great release and respite for me."

The Secretary of State described her doggie down time:

"When I'm home, we go on these walks and we have this old Labrador who has arthritis, and we always try to convince him to come out for a walk. And then we have this toy poodle that we got to keep the Labrador company and to try to get the Labrador to be more energetic. And she's, like, bouncing all the time. And so we go on these walks and it's great because the – our Lab, Seamus, sort of starts off kind of like an old man, just kind of very ambling and slow. And Tally, our poodle, is like, jumping up and down and then Seamus gets some energy and off he goes."

We didn't even know Hill and hubby Bill had dogs! The first lady credits her puppy secrete to her family's new found privacy.

"These jobs are really hard, and if you don't have time to just really be a private person, you can't refuel yourself to be able to deal with all of the pressures that come at you during the average day. So for us, it's great having just the opportunity to go for a walk with our dogs."
