TPG Capital and Leonard Green & Partners are the proud new owners of J. Crew!

Back in November the retailer announced the two private equity firms were set to acquire the company for $3 billion on the condition they didn't receive any better offers during the go-shop period.

Since no one made them a better offer, the purchase is practically a done deal.

A big year for the House of Mouse!

As of this week, experts say that Toy Story 3 will cross the $1 billion line in profits! This is the second film from Disney that has grossed that much. Alice In Wonderland, the 5th biggest title in global box office history, took home $1.0243 billion earlier this year.

Holy shiz!

The Hollywood trend of vampires has boosted the industry's economy immensely bringing in around $7 billion!

With $3 billion from films, $1.6 billion from publishing, $600 million in merchandising, TV/DVDs bringing in $1.2 billion and $600 million coming in from other vampire themed projects, we definitely don't see vamps leaving the Hollywood scene anytime soon!

What do U think?

George Lucas Loses Billions…By Choice

georgelucase.jpg

Don’t Worry, George Lucas will still have plenty of billions leftover.

The creator of the multi-billion dollar Star Wars franchise has agreed to take part in The Giving Pledge, which consists of a group of billionaires who agree to give away half of their wealth to charity.

The pledge was started by Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, who could easily part with half of their respective fortunes. For those members who feel they need to shed even more billions, there is no cap on how much money one can donate to the pledge (Buffett has pledged 99% off his wealth).

We’re very impressed.

All of a sudden, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace seems slightly more watchable, and we might be less inclined to roll our eyes the next time we watch one of those Windows 7 “I’m a PC” commercials.

Would U donate half your money if U were a multi-billionaire?

Oprah Hires Someone To Manage Those Billions!

Good idea!

Oprah Winfrey has hired Peter Adamson in the first step to establish a "family office" to handle her personal investments. This is likely the first time she has arranged a full investment organization for her big money!

O's net worth is currently at $2.4 billion and it appears she felt the need for a team to devote all of their energies to her finances.

Makes sense!

Her first hire in Adamson comes with a pretty impressive endorsement as he handles LA billionaire and philanthropist Eli Broad's money, too.

We wonder who was keeping track of her money before?
