WHOA! This guy is lucky to be alive!!
This is so nuts! A small, single engine plane was only a few miles away from landing, traveling through smooth air at a steady 170mph when a pilot's nightmare came true:
A bird smashed into the windshield, breaking right through the glass, sending debris into the pilot's face!
Omg that must've been absolutely TERRIFYING!!
Luckily, the pilot was a seasoned veteran and, even though this had never happened before, he was able to keep the plane under control.
He reached his hand to his face, checking for injuries and was still able to keep his cool after he saw his hand was covered in face blood.
When he landed, a surprisingly good landing, he was complimented by the air traffic controllers and met by firefighters who helped him out.
He's so lucky that this bird didn't strike him in the face and knock him unconscious!
Check out the video (above) and see the crazy footage as this man's cockpit windshield shatters!!
This is so wonderful!
We love the incredibly specific genre of news involving the pope and birds.
The last story about the pope and birds didn't really go according to plan, but this story is just fabulous across the board!
An Italian porn star, Francesco Lombardi, went to see the Pope and brought along his pet parrot Amore.
The pope was making his way through the crowd when he spotted the bird and actually circled back to
No! Poor peace doves!
The pope was giving his weekly Sunday Angelus prayer, in front of the tens of thousands of people who gather in the Vatican, along with two kids, when something unexpected happen!
After finishing his prayer for those in the Ukraine, the kids next to him released two white peace doves, which began to flapp away into the beautiful Italian sky… until they were attacked!!
Two birds of prey, a seagull and a crow, flew in and assaulted the peace doves!
The seagull pinned one of the doves against a wall and pecked at it but the bird escaped while the crow snatched and pecked at the other bird before it too escaped.
The magic power of the pope helped the birds get away with their lives!!
Kinda symbolic… the peace doves were attacked by birds of prey but overcame adversity and rose above it to fly off into the sunset!!

This is so cool! And it all happened by chance!
A falcon was scavenging near a colony of penguins when he spotted a lone egg.
All the other eggs had hatched so this was a rare delicacy!
Except there was a reason it was the only egg left…
It was an egg shaped camera! It captured all sorts of incredible video of the falcon rolling the egg around.
Until the bird actually picked up the egg in its talons and shot a breathtaking aerial view of the penguin colony as he flew over them.
This bird is a pretty darn good cameraman!

St. Louis Zoo was lucky enough to become the proud host of a fluffy little Tawny Frogmouth chick back on November 2nd.
The zoo is part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP) for this species, so it was very important this little birdie was well taken care of.
The zoo keepers made sure to help out the lil chick's parents, saying:
"Our goal is to always have the parents rear their own birds, but this pair is a pair of first-time parents and often times the learning curve is pretty steep, so we try to help out the parents if we can."
So they did what they could to make sure the little baby went from ugly duckling to cute fluffy young bird!
The transformation is pretty drastic and kinda way amazing!
Wanna see the bird go from gross to fluff??

Puffins are making a comeback!!
Puffins, super cute penguin looking birdies, were thought to be in real trouble, with dwindling numbers.
From 2003 to 2008, the puffin population dropped by about one third!!
So of course environmentalists were worried!
But it turns out that the population has made a real comeback all on it's own! They've turned their own fate around!
The puffin population on the UK's Farne Islands has made a serious recovery with a puffin boom, even though winters have been tough and brutal.
Why can't all species of animals just save themselves??
If only rhinos could take their own horn powder and start reproducing like rabbits, there'd be no issues.
Check out the video (above) to see these cutie puffins just puffining around their island.
