'Bloodline' star Sam Shepard was arrested for a DUI in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

It looks like there was a little too much alcohol in his Bloodline stream.

Sam Shepard was arrested Monday night for drunk driving in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

The 71-year-old actor was leaving La Choza restaurant, when the cops arrived thanks to the restaurant security guard calling the police after noticing the star was trying to drive himself.

According to authorities, officers could smell the alcohol and noticed the actors' eyes were bloodshot.

Jessica Lange's ex refused to take a breath test, but didn't resist when he was being arrested. However, since he didn't take that particular sobriety test, his DUI charge was automatically upgraded to an aggravated one.

Sam won't be able to be released from prison until he has been arraigned.

Just FYI, this isn't his first time behind bars for drunk driving — he was also locked up back in 2009.

The actor has opened up in the past about struggling with alcoholism, and we really hope he is able to get the help he needs.
