Bo Derek Tries (& Fails) To Give A Neutral Response To Kim Kardashian's Braids Controversy: 'It’s Just A Hairstyle'!

bo derek comments kim kardashian braids controversy

Bo Derek has attempted to give the MOST neutral response to Kim Kardashian West's braids controversy.

The key word there is "attempted." As you surely know, Keeks was put on blast for crediting her recent braided hairstyle to the 61-year-old actress, as she famously donned the look in the 1979 film 10.

Of course, as the hairstyle is traditionally worn by black women and men, it didn't take long for social media users to accuse Mrs. West of "cultural appropriation." In an attempt to diffuse the situation, Miz Derek took to Twitter and wrote:

That's because the KUWTK star decided to open up her (we hope faux) fur coat to reveal she was nude but for a tiny thong!

Ch-ch-check out her latest pic (below) and let us know if YOU think it's just a Distraction!

The reality star had posted a picture to Instagram of herself rocking the braided hairstyle, capturing the attention of the actress, who commented on the photo (in reply to another commenter):

"when u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter"

On Monday's episode of WWHL, Andy decided to dub the online exchange the night's "jackhole" moment because he figured Amandla was simply trying to pick a fight with the 17-year-old.

Bo Derek Wants To Save The Rainforest

Bo Derek

Bo Derek is leading the campaign against oil drilling in Yasuni National Park in Ecuador.

There are 10 billion dollars worth of oil in the rainforst.

Even though Ecuador is a developing country, and could really use the revenue, they are willing to accept less than half that amount in donations from around the world.

If they reach their 3.6 billion dollar goal, they won’t drill.

The money will go to reforestion, social development, renewable energy, and clean up.

California Bans Shark Finning!

California Bans Shark Finning

The California political state got something right!

Yesterday, the CA Senate passed the bill to ban shark finning — a bill many celebrities have supported including Leonardo DiCaprio, Bo Derek, and Edward Norton.

Passing by a vote of 25-9, the bill is now in the hands of Governor Jerry Brown who is expected to sign it within the week. This new legislation will prohibit sale, trade, and possession of shark fins within the state.

This is great news for the environment! People may have their opinions of sharks, but they are greatly needed in order to keep the oceanic ecosystem intact.

Also, it's just plain cruel! Shark finning involves the slow, torturous death of sharks by hauling them aboard ships, cutting off their fins, and chunking them back into the water alive.

Humans kill around 73m sharks a year, but everyone agrees this is a step in the right direction! Since CA held the biggest demand for shark fins outside Asia, it's going to make an impact.

Great job, California!
