Guess who's coming to the rescue??

Charlie Sheen will play daddy while his ex-wife Brooke Mueller spends time taking care of herself and getting back on the right track.

After her recent arrest for cocaine possession last week, and struggling with substance abuse issues for years, it seems that Charlie has decided to step in and take care of his sons Bob and Max.

Brooke's parents will help out too, of course, while she tries to "get better."

Oh man, who would have ever thought that Charlie would be the responsible one in this case? We're just praying for Bob and Max to have a somewhat normal and healthy upbringing.

This was probably the most low-key birthday Charlie Sheen has had in years.

He spent his 46th birthday with his ex-wife Brooke Mueller and their twins Bob and Max at a raging party spot - the chain restaurant Buca di Beppo in Encino, Calif. LOL!

The family enjoyed heaps of pasta and other traditional Italian fare just before waiters brought out a huge Major League-themed birthday cake.

His birthday actually sounds really sweet. It's nice to see that he and Brooke can get along, especially in front of the kids.

Glad it wasn't too much of a rager, Charlie!

Oh gawd.

Charlie Sheen finally has his boys Bob and Max with him for the first time since March and instead of spending quality time with them by playing games and reading them children's stories, Charlie has decided to teach his young 2-year-old twins the word "rehab."

Ugh.

Charlie explains:

"I am teaching them words, because they're speaking now. I'm teaching them the word 'rehab' so they always know where their mom is."

Wow, really?? REALLY, Charlie?? Those are some A+ parenting skills right there.

Nothing like teaching your boys how to disrespect their mother.

How very mature of these two.

Charlie Sheen's exes, Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller, have formed an unlikely bond and talk "quite frequently" with each other.

The two even planned on having a play date with their kids last week, just before Brooke relapsed and checked back into rehab.

An insider says that the two are becoming close friends, adding:

"Brooke and Denise talk quite frequently. It was Denise's idea to get together for dinner with Brooke with their children. Denise's children with Charlie, Sam and Lola, have spent time in the past with their half-siblings, Bob and Max. Denise wants all the children to hang out together.

Denise has reached out to Brooke since her relapse to offer her support. Denise wants to have the girls spend time with their brothers, when she is assured that Brooke is sober, and wants it be a fun outing for everyone, with no drama. It's about the kids forming a bond, and nothing else."

Denise insists that all of Charlie's kids become close and knows that he's not capable of having custody of his children. The source continues:

"Denise is fiercely protective of the girls and will not permit them to be in any environment that has the possibility of causing any emotional harm to them.

Denise makes a mama bear that is protective of her cubs look like a wimp. Let’s face it, Denise has very good reasons to feel the way she does. Denise went through hell with Charlie and she won't let that happen to her girls, period."

We admire her tenacity to keep all the children together. If anything, Brooke and Charlie's sons Bob and Max need stability more than ever. With a father on a tourpedo of anger and a mother in sober living, we're glad that Denise is willing to step in and be a mature adult by bonding with Brooke and her sons.

For the sake of those poor children, we really hope that this isn't true.

Friends of Charlie Sheen's estranged wife, Brooke Mueller, have apparently become concerned about her sobriety after she apparently called various friends this morning begging for them to give a urine sample to a El Lay testing facility in her name!

As we've reported, both Sheen and Mueller are legally required to submit to random drug testing three times a month, as part of the custody agreement for their twin sons. However, according to sources, when the latter discovered early today that the time had once again come, she began frantically trying to find anyone who could cover for her!

The insider explains:

"Brooke admitted to relapsing. She hasn't been returning calls, which usually means she's using. She's absolutely freaked out that this potential dirty test could result in her losing custody of their 2-year-old twins (Bob and Max) to Charlie. Brooke knew that if she used drugs again, Charlie could get full custody of them."

Meanwhile, according to a legal source:

"There is a very real chance that Brooke could lose custody of the boys if the test does come back positive."

Again, all we can really say is - those poor children. They aren't going to know what stability looks like if it gets thrown in their faces.

We really do pray for their well-being, and as little interaction with their parents as possible until they get their issues sorted out.

So sad.

Finally some normalcy for these two.

We've got all the deets on Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller's custody agreement for their twin boys, Bob and Max.

Here are some of the terms for their agreement:

*Charlie gets the boys every other weekend for the next 2 months. If both Charlie and Brooke remain drug and alcohol free, Charlie will also get to see them Wednesdays and Thursdays every other week.

*Charlie and Brooke must submit to random drug testing 3 times a month.

*They must have their regular nannies with them at all times when they have the kids.

*Charlie's goddesses are not allowed to show public displays of affection toward the kids.

*Charlie and Brooke can't be photographed with a romantic partner while they are with the kids.

As long as these two take things seriously and follow the terms of their custody agreement, they can hopefully provide some sort of balance for themselves as well as their twin sons. It IS all about their children, after all.

Good! We think that this is definitely in everyone's best interest.

According to Brooke Mueller's custody agreement with Charlie Sheen, the troubled actor must undergo a full psychological evaluation with a licensed psychiatrist in order to see his twin sons again.

A source explains:

"Charlie must submit to a mental health evaluation with a licensed professional before he can see Bob and Max. Charlie won't see the boys until he sees a psychiatrist, that is someone neutral, that hasn't previously treated him. Charlie knows what he has to do to see the boys. If he wants to see them, he will do it. Charlie agreed to these terms in the custody agreement. He has to adhere to the terms. The fact is though that before Charlie's problems began in the last several months, he had had little or no contact with Bob and Max in the previous 16 months."

Sadly, that has yet to happen, and we doubt it will for quite some time, if ever.

We're just thankful that Brooke put these terms into place in order to ensure that her kids remain safe.

Such a shame that his relationship with his children isn't an important enough incentive for him to want and get his life in order.

Here's hoping there's a miracle and he comes to his senses.
