Janet Jackson Opens Up About Her Father

Janet Jackson has had a tumultuous life — she has severe body issues ands a very distant father.

Said Jackson about her poor body image:

"I would literally bang my head up against the wall because I didn't feel attractive. There was a lot of pain in my life. But I did. I felt very unattractive."

She continued:

"I still have issues with it. I don't bang my head up against the wall, but I still have those moments. And I think it'll probably continue but at least I know how to deal with it now. And I'm in a much better space."

To make it worse, Michael Jackson and her brotehrs used to call her names like “Horse, pig, cow, slaughter-hog." Janet’s father was emotionally distant from her, telling her to call him Joseph instead of dad.

Growing up in any household where there’s a family band is going to mess with you a little — we’re glad she made it out alright!!

Brooklyn Decker: ‘Diets Were Wrecking My Body’

Brooklyn Decker: ‘Diets Were Wrecking My Body’

Brooklyn Decker is one of the HAWTest women in the world, but she didn’t always have the self-confidence to match her looks.

Says Brooklyn:

“When I was younger, I was insecure about being gangly and having no shape. People made fun of me and called me a boy! I remember praying for boobs and a butt. Luckily, I grew into myself and got curves, but when I was first modelling, I wished for that boyish Gisele body again!”

Like so many models who are pressured by the industry to stay impossibly thin, Brooklyn became obsessed with staying skinny and got into some bad places with dieting.

“When I moved to New York, I was always with other aspiring models. There were bingers and purgers, and everyone watched each other eat. It freaked me out. I did juice fasts and crazy diets and ended up gaining weight. My father did an intervention and got me to stop obsessing about everyone else and wrecking my body.”

Brooklyn has since developed a much healthier approach to eating, which involves focusing on what she’s getting out of food, instead of obsessing over calorie counts.

“Eating is more fulfilling if you talk about what you should eat rather than what you shouldn’t. Instead of worrying about what foods might have too much fat or sugar, think, ‘Oh, I should eat these blueberries for the antioxidants.’”

We love that philosophy! And it’s obviously working! She’s GORGEOUS!!

Margaret Cho Talks About Body Issues On Dancing With The Stars

Margaret Cho Talks About Body Issues On Dancing With The Stars

Even though Margaret Cho was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars, she took some valuable lessons about body-image issues away from the experience.

She wrote on her blog:

“One thing I learned about myself on “Dancing with the Stars” is how startlingly insecure I am about my body. I am thin enough, I suppose, but I know I am not as healthy as I can be. I felt clumsy and awkward among the svelte, swanlike figures of Jennifer and Brandi and Audrina – I am not ‘in’ my body as they seem to be, and my dancing was heavily influenced by that.”

Cho struggled with dancing on stage due to her self-image issues:

“What sucks is I danced beautifully in rehearsals whenever my wonderful partner Louis and I were alone, but this was completely frustrating because when we would get out on the ballroom floor I couldn’t replicate it because I felt so weird about the way I looked. This hit me as so strange because I thought I had left all these physical insecurities and self doubt behind, but what truly happened was I was just in denial about how much self hatred I had left in me.”

Despite all of her problems on the show, Margaret has learned a lot and improved her life because of the experience:

“I will be back in the audience next week to cheer on the stars and their pro dancers, feeling radiant and confident and happy, knowing I will dance again another day. And though it was hard, I have fond memories of dancing on that floor. Although it unearthed a world of pain I didn’t even know existed, there were moments where I have never felt so beautiful (especially in the gay pride rainbow flag dress).”

We love it! You’re beautiful, Margaret! Keep doing what you do!
