Justice is served?
Bollywood actor Salman Khan is finally going to jail for a fatal hit-and-run incident in Mumbai in 2002.
An Indian court found Salman guilty of running over five homeless people with his car, tragically killing one of them.
The judge said Salman was not only driving the vehicle, but he was also intoxicated at the time. The actor had tried to deny the claim, saying his driver was behind the wheel, but the judge didn't buy it, and convicted him of culpable homicide.
It's kind of a load of crap that the punishment for killing a defenseless homeless man, in this case, is only a five-year sentence.
In addition to the homicide charge, Salman was also found guilty of negligent driving and "causing grievous harm" to the other four victims he injured. While he was given separate sentences for these convictions, his lawyers made sure that all his jail time runs concurrently.
And to top it all off, his lawyers already applied for bail, and legal experts say they'll probably appeal the verdict as well.
We're not convinced that, after THIRTEEN years, the victims got the justice they deserved.
But what do YOU think? SOUND OFF in the comments!
