Logan Leads The Way! Hugh Jackman's New Film Has A MASSIVE Weekend At The Box Office — Here Are The Numbers!

no title

It seems like virtually every weekend so far in 2017, we've reported on struggling films opening at the box office, or maybe — with the exception of bona fide hit Get Out — a surprise upstart that had a better-than-expected turnout to a small degree.

But this… this is VERY different!

Logan opened at the box office over the weekend, and the James Mangold-directed film not only set the biggest opening of 2017 to date, it also is now one of the top opening weekend showings ALL TIME for an R-rated release, and for a March release!!

The Jordan Peele-helmed race-conscious horror film killed it at the box office this weekend, earning a VERY impressive $30.5 million debut!

The Great Wall Gets Toppled In A Poor Opening Weekend In Theaters

no title

It wasn't supposed to go like this for The Great Wall!

Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou's big flick starring Matt Damon (pictured above) was supposed to be a big deal in the U.S., but it completely bombed over the long Presidents Day weekend — totaling only about $21 million from more than 3,325 theaters.

Yikes!!

Considering the film had a $150 million production budget, that's a very, very bad showing — and remember, this is coming on a technically long weekend at the box office, with Monday's holiday factoring into the totals, too.

Then again, maybe it was an entire box office thing; the other new release

A Little Batman, A Little S&M — Here Are Your Surprising Weekend Box Office Totals!

no title

It wasn't quite as good as industry experts were expecting, but Warner Bros.' The Lego Batman Movie did its thing this Valentine's Day weekend with an opening of $55.6 million from more than 4,000 theaters.

That edged out the erotic Fifty Shades Darker in a vicious Valentine's battle, and it was a big win for Warner Bros. considering The Lego Batman Movie is now the top opening of 2017!

It's not all good for the lego flick, though — this was something of a down weekend at the box office as that film was expected to sit between $60 and $70 million, and obviously fell short.

But Fifty Shades Darker, though it may have came in second place on the weekend, actually

Split Owns The Box Office For The Third Straight Week — But Guess Which New Release COMPLETELY Bombed This Weekend!

Filed under: Film FlickersOops!Business BlitzNewsViral: News

Congrats to the folks behind Split, and M. Night Shyamalan at the helm — you've got yourselves a hit!

Buoyed by weak numbers from some other new releases the last few weeks, but still doing very, very well in its own right, the horror-thriller AGAIN took the top spot across the North American box office this weekend, pulling in $14.6 million from about 3,300 theaters!!

Related: Now THIS Is Must-See TV!!

That gives Split a $98.7 million gross domestically since its release a few weeks back, and makes it the first Universal Pictures release to run the table at the top of the box office since Straight Outta Compton back in 2015! Wow!

Behind Split, it must be the perfect time for scary movies, because Paramount Pictures' thriller Rings rounded out second place this weekend, taking in about $13 million from 2,931 theaters.

A remake of the 1998 Japanese horror film Ring, it looks like Paramount did pretty well with this one — although they definitely wanted to take #1 this weekend since Split is so far into its run. Oh well!

It wasn't all good news at the box office, though. Y'all wanna talk about BOMBS? Then we have to talk about this new release:

Ryan Reynolds Shares Deadpool's HIGHlariously Crass 'For Your Consideration' Oscars Video! Watch!

C'mon, Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences, you know you want to…

Deadpool was one of the biggest surprise hits of 2016. Not only was it a box office hit, making over $750 million on a $60 million budget, but Ryan Reynolds' crude superhero also charmed the critics!

The action comedy was so revered, it was nominated for 2 Golden Globes — including Best Picture, Comedy or Musical (which it lost to La La Land) — and was recently nominated for awards from the Writers AND Producers Guilds!

And with the Oscar nominations coming out later this month, Reynolds shared a For Your Consideration video for Deadpool on Twitter — which, of course, continues in the spirit of mocking all of the film's acclaim!

Hilariously narrated by its leading hero, the clip tries to sway Oscar voters by noting the film's magical unicorns, assless chaps, broken fourth wall, chimichangas, and just about everything else the Academy loves.

Will Deadpool be a dark horse at the Oscars? Should La La Land and Moonlight be worried!? Watch the clip (below) to see if YOUR vote is swayed!

Can't Win 'Em All! 10 Films That Totally FLOPPED In The 2016 Box Office!!

no title

It's been another amazing year at the box office — you know, for movies about superheroes!

But otherwise, even some of the most anticipated blockbusters severely underperformed in the box office!

Despite being a mockumentary solely about spoofing Justin Bieber, Andy Samberg's POPSTAR: Never Stop Never Stopping fell flat, and well… stopped stopping right in theaters.

Speaking of big screen duds from SNL alumni — Tina Fey's war-zone dramedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot also flew under the radar in a year of superheroes, and unfortunately became another box office bomb.

And not even Sacha Baron Cohen's action comedy The Brothers Grimsby was able to make decent earnings in a post-Borat world! Yeesh!
