If you want to avoid getting pregnant, listen up and check your birth control packages!
Qualitest Pharmaceuticals issued a voluntary, nationwide recall last week for 1.4 million packages of birth control pills distributed since last year, including:
- Cyclafem 7/7/7
- Cyclafem 1/35
- Gildess FE 1.5/30
- Gildess FE 1/20
The recall is due to a packaging design error, as a statement read:
"The recall is being implemented because of a packaging error, where select blisters were rotated 180 degrees within the card, reversing the weekly tablet orientation and making the lot number and expiry date no longer visible."
If you are taking any of the contraceptives listed above, be sure to check box bottoms or individual blister card for the lot number, than click HERE to view a full list of numbers affected by the recall.
The statement also advises doctors, pharmacists or women seeking additional information on this recall to contact Qualitest toll free at 1-877-300-6153 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CT Monday through Friday.
