Carly Rae Jepsen was set to perform at the Boy Scouts of America National Scout Jamboree concert in Mount Hope, West Virginia this summer, but considering that they're very closed minded when it comes to gay rights — she decided to cancel her appearance.
After the Boy Scouts of America got us excited with news that they may lift the ban on gays, they're now stating that they need more time to come to a decision.
The vote on whether or not to release the ban on gay memberships is being delayed until May, and to try to smooth things over, the scouts said:
The Boy Scouts of America always endeavor to Be Prepared, but it seems they were not quite ready for the public's reaction to their ban on gay scouts and leaders.
As recently as July of last year the Scouts re-affirmed their No Gays Allowed policy, but the times they are a-changin'!
Many charities, businesses, and United Way groups have stopped donating to the Boy Scouts due to their discriminatory practices, causing the organization to rethink their ways.
The BSA's board of directors are reportedly "actively considering" changing their national policy to allow individual charters to allow in homosexual members if they so choose. Spokesman Deron Smith says:
The Boy Scouts of America are due to release a rather large collection of secret files that contain the names of potential child molesters.
Although there is no timetable for how far back these files go back, if one considers that the boy scouts have been around since 1910 - it could go pretty damn far back.
