Boy Scouts participate in the Pride Parades nationwide

This is just fantastic!

All over the country, people took part in the gay pride parades this past Sunday, and in some places, they did something very special.

In both New York City and Seattle (above), the parades were led by the Boy Scouts of America!

New York saw scouts of all ages, from young adults to 78-year-old David Knapp, who was at the parade with his boyfriend, proudly holding a sign that read, “Boy Scout leader kicked out for being gay.”

Greg Bourke, a 56-year-old father who was ousted from his role as troop leader, said:

boy scouts of america finally allowing openly gay members in 2014

It's about time!!

Earlier this year, the Boy Scouts of America FINALLY lifted their ban on accepting openly gay members, and it officially goes into effect on January 1st, 2014. AKA, tomorrow!!

The highly anticipated move has been met with some resistance from a few churches, but BSA national executive board member Brad Haddock is confident they'll be able to find support elsewhere:

Carly Rae Jepsen-less Boy Scout Jamboree Gets 3 Doors Down To Perform Despite LGBT Inequities!

boy scout jamboree three doors down replaces carly rae jepsen train equal rights lgtbThe Boy Scouts of America made a lot of progress this past year, but, frankly, the group still hasn't done enough!

Carly Rae Jepsen and Train were so displeased with the organization's continued intolerance that she dropped out of the BSA's National Jamboree months ago, refusing to perform for them until total equality was reached.

Apparently, though, not every musician is as concerned with equal rights and the fate of the LGBT community.

3 Doors Down signed on to headline tomorrow's concert, regardless of the fact that the policy change on permitting gay troop members isn't going through until January and openly gay troop leaders continue to remain barred from volunteering for the foreseeable future.

The bands rep isn;t commenting, but we want to know why the Here Without You singers performs for a group that condones sexual orientation-based discrimination!? !

The Boy Scouts do good within many different communities, there is no denying that, but many of their policies are antiquated and exclusionary!!

We were proud of the way CRJ stood up for ALL of her fans earlier this year when the Call Me Maybe singer tweeted:

Openly Gay Boy Scout Unsure How He Feels About Group's New Policy

pascal tessier

After the Boy Scouts of American unveiled their momentous decision yesterday to allow openly gay boys in their group- a lot of people were getting a little choked up.

One person who definitely was feeling some love was an openly gay scout from Maryland named Pascal Tessier.

It's been a long road for this top notch boy scout, but he can finally be gay and proud!

Here's what he said:

"I was thinking that today could be my last day as a Boy Scout. Obviously, for gay Scouts like me, this vote is life-changing."

Yet Pascal also feels uneasy about the change in the rules of the game.

Boy Scouts Lift Ban On Openly Gay Members, No Such Luck For Scout Leaders!

boy scouts vote allow openly gay members maintain ban on gay adult leaders

It's about time!!

After months of endless debate, the Boy Scouts of America finally voted to allow openly gay scouts to join their ranks!!

Over 60% of the 1,400 person polled think the youth organization should allow all qualified members, regardless of sexual orientation!!

Even though the a large percentage of the organization is run by those affiliated with Mormon and Catholic churches who are, sadly, sometimes unhip to LGBT tolerance, the measure was still able to pass!

The first hard fought battle was won, but plenty of work remains!!
