It seems that a Christian Grey portrayed by Charlie Hunnam was just not meant to be!
However, in a recent interview Charlie opened up about why he didn't wind up being the one putting certain parts of his body into Anastasia Steele's Pacific Rim.
Here's what Charlie had to say about pulling out of Fifty Shades of Grey, and his discontinued involvement with the project:
"I was going to finish [filming] Sons at like 11 p.m. Friday, get on the plane Saturday morning to Vancouver for Fifty, missing the whole first week of rehearsal. And I was going to shoot that film, wrap that on the Wednesday and the following Monday I was going to start shooting Crimson Peak in Toronto. I just had like…frankly, something of a nervous breakdown…I just said, I can't…I can't…Fifty's going to be massive, huge. I really didn't want to fail on such a grand scale, and I couldn't transition from Jax Teller to Christian Grey in 48 hours…It was just a sh*t situation,. was really, really sorry to do it. It was one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations. It's painful because I loved the character and I wanted to do it."
Well, if you're having a nervous breakdown over a role, chances are it's not the right move.
Too bad. We would have loved seeing Charlie dominating his scene work!
