And the Hollywood whitewashing conversation continues…

As we reported, the new Urban Myths series has been getting heat from Michael Jackson's family after unveiling the first look at Joseph Fiennes portraying the black music icon.

On Wednesday, MJ's 18-year-old daughter Paris Jackson blasted the trailer as a "shameful portrayal" and slammed the creators for intentionally "insulting" her iconic father.

But it looks like the creators are telling critics to beat it — as Sky Arts defended its decision to cast Fiennes in the comedic short.

The film in question tells the story of the probably-fictional road trip MJ, Elizabeth Taylor (played by Stockard Channing), and Marlon Brando (Brian Cox) were said to have made from New York to Ohio after the 9/11 attacks.

According to director Ben Palmer, casting Jackson in 2001 (post-Black or White, if you catch our drift) proved to be "a challenge in terms of the physical resemblance" — but the white Fiennes brought something special.

Speaking to The Guardian, he explained:

Joseph Fiennes Says He's Just 'As Shocked As You' That He's Playing Michael Jackson! And See What He Said About His & MJ's Skin Color!

Earlier this week, Joseph Fiennes made headlines after it was reported the actor will be portraying Michael Jackson in an upcoming British TV movie.

Fans of the King of Pop were a bit surprised to find out that a white British guy would be playing MJ, and Fiennes himself admits:

"I'm a white, middle-class guy from London. I'm as shocked as you may be."

The 9/11 road trip movie Elizabeth, Michael, and Marlon is a "light tongue-and-cheek look" at an urban legend that appeared in a May 2011 Vanity Fair article.

No, we are not sh*tting you! The project for SkyArts is about a road trip that the King Of Pop took with besties Elizabeth Taylor and Marlon Brando to escape New York after 9/11.

The wacky story was reported in a 2011 issue of Vanity Fair, and according to sources, the zany trio made it all the way to Ohio!

However, other sources discredit such a tale. According to Brando's former assistant, the actor stayed behind in New York.

This Is QUITE The Cast!

that-championship-season-begins-broadway-run

We can't believed they snagged such an A-list cast for this!

We want to see it for them alone!

Jason Miller's play That Championship Season is prepping its new run on Broadway, and its cast - comprised of Jim Gaffigan, Chris Noth, Brian Cox, Kiefer Sutherland, and Jason Patric - were all on hand last night at Sardi's restaurant in NYC (above and below) for a photocall!

This is horribly dorky, but we're just excited that Kiefer and Jason are working together again!

It's like a miniature Lost Boys reunion!

LOLz! Yes and YES!

Kiefer Sutherland: From Bauer To Broadway

kiefer sutherland to star in broadway play

Kiefer Sutherland will be returning to New York to star in 24: The Musical a revival of Jason Miller's Tony Award Winning Broadway play That Championship Season.

He'll be starring in the play with Brian Cox and Liev Schreiber.

The play's plot revolves around four guys who return home for a reunion with their high school basketball coach 20 years after winning their state championship. The guys never achieved their goals in life, and things get real as they share all types of secrets during their reunion.

For any non-New York dwellers out there who might not make it to the reunion, you may still see Kiefer in a 24 movie, assuming Fox can put the pieces together.

Would U like to see Kiefer on Broadway?
