The PwC Accountant Responsible For That Oscars Blunder Was Thirsty For Fame!

Brian Cullinan

Sounds like that PwC accountant responsible for the embarrassing Oscars blunder could have been a little more focused on doing his job than chasing fame.

As you know, Brian Cullinan was tweeting pics of Emma Stone on Sunday when he accidentally handed off the duplicate Best Actress envelope to Warren Beatty instead of Best Picture. Smh.

We're now hearing that Brian also allegedly asked show producers for him and his colleague Martha Ruiz to be a part of a sketch with Jimmy Kimmel at some point during the show — an idea that was supposedly turned down!

Thirsty much???

Despite these reports, however, a rep from the accounting firm tells Variety that this is absolutely not true — and Brian was just meeting with the showrunners because the company was still a little offended by Chris Rock's joke last year when he brought three Asian-American kids onstage to represent the accountants.

The representative argued:

Since then, Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz, the PricewaterhouseCoopers accountants who were responsible for the snafu have been disciplined.

But don't feel too badly for the accountants, as the Oscars' longtime stage manager, named Gary Natoli, has since come forward and dished about how incompetent these two actually were. Oooh, go on!

Brian and Martha are going back to their desks.

Well, we can't say we didn't see this coming.

They still have jobs at PricewaterhouseCoopers, but they won't be handing out wrong envelopes at the Academy Awards anytime soon.

Bye, guys! It's been real!

Apparently, they are both devastated over what happened but call it an "honest mistake." And although Cullinan was blamed for being distracted by tweeting the entire night, the truth is the Academy actually encouraged him to share his experiences on social media. *shruggie emoji*

We hope they're better at their jobs as accountants than they were at handing out correct envelopes! LOLz!

The Oscars and PwC apologize again.

When you fuck up so bad, multiple apologies are probably in order.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, the accounting firm that has handled the Oscars votes for the past 83 years, is apologizing again for the mix-up that caused one of the most embarrassing situations onstage at the Oscars EVER.

The firm released a second apology statement late Monday evening regarding the mistake made 24 hours earlier at the award show, and this time they also mentioned the fact that the two people tasked with giving out the envelopes, Martha Ruiz and Brian Cullinan, did not act "quickly enough" to correct the mistake.

As you may know, three La La Land producers managed to give their speeches before the mistake was rectified.

Oscars Envelope Screw-Up Explained! And The Color Scheme Is To Blame???

Envelope Gate won't die!

This drama won't end!

#EnvelopeGate continues with more explanations as to exactly what went wrong during the Best Picture announcement at the 89th annual Oscars Sunday night in Los Angeles.

At this point we all know Warren Beatty was handed the wrong envelope (the Best Actress one to be exact) and that Faye Dunaway mistakenly called out La La Land as the winner.

Well, the reason for that is because there were two Best Actress envelopes. One was in Emma Stone's possession, while the other was mistakenly given to Mr. Beatty.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, the accounting firm that oversees the envelopes, now explains that two of their reps, Martha Ruiz and Brian Cullinan, were stationed on both sides of the stage. Both also had their own briefcase containing envelopes of all the winners.

Ruiz handed off the Best Actress envelope when it was time to announce the award, the penultimate of the night, and then immediately following that, when Best Picture was about to be announced, Cullinan also handed off his duplicate of the Best Actress envelope. OOPS!!!

Another explanation also lies in the fact that

Was THIS PwC Accountant To Blame For The Oscars Best Picture Mix-Up?

He had one job… we think.

Everyone is still trying to get down to the bottom of the biggest mystery in Hollywood right now: how did Warren Beatty get the envelope for Best Actress when presenting Best Picture at the Oscars?

Well, it looks like the blame is now being pointed at Brian Cullinan (pictured above, right), none other than an accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The firm that handles the votes and envelopes for the Academy Awards already issued a statement on the mishap, saying they would be launching an investigation into the live blunder.

And apparently, the head they're offering up is Cullinan, a veteran who has been with the firm for 30 years.

According to reports, Brian was supposed to discard the duplicate Best Actress envelope and hand Beatty Best Picture, but got a bit distracted from all the glitz and glamor backstage.

Brian's Twitter page shows further evidence that he was in La La Land when he was supposed to be prepping for the final category.

The tweets have since been deleted, but a picture of Emma Stone and her Oscar was screenshotted from his page:
