NBC Employees Shed Light On The Problems Leading Up To Brian Williams' On-Air Lie!

More light has been shed on the inside operations of NBC News after a Vanity Fair article interviewed past and present NBC executives, in the wake of the on-air lie news anchor Brian Williams told that got him suspended.

One of the many facets of this story is Williams' rise to power at NBC News, following the death of Tim Russert. The longtime anchor reportedly wasn't fond of Williams' lack of interest in politics and world events.

After Russert's death in 2008, Williams ran wild driving away investigative correspondents Michael Isikoff and Lisa Myers due to his lack of interest in their work, according to sources. An insider had this to say:

"There is NBC News before Tim died and after Tim died. Tim was our soul, our conscience…When Tim died, and Brian pushed out John Reiss, there was no one who could influence Brian in a significant way, who could say, ‘G*ddammit, Brian, you have to do this.' "

Another piece of the puzzle was that reportedly NBC News Chief Deborah Turness didn't "have a f*cking clue" on how to run the beast that is NBC News. The News President had been reportedly "letting the inmates run the asylum," perhaps being too lenient on Williams and proving herself a non-threat to the anchor.

Earlier this year, NBC news anchor Brian Williams got some major heat after he falsely claimed that he had been in a helicopter that had come under RPG fire while in Iraq in 2003.

This claim eventually led to him being suspended for 6 months without pay from his NBC Nightly News desk.

Now, it's being reported that the anchor is still having trouble coming to terms with his false claim and wondering aloud if his fib was attributed to a brain tumor.

Several NBC News insiders said in a recent report that Williams had trouble explaining to even his co-workers what happened. A source had this to say:

Bill O'Reilly Defends Brian Williams… And Himself… On Letterman!

no title

Bill O'Reilly was recently on the Late Show and talked to David Letterman about truth and accuracy in the news.

So of course Brian Williams came up.

Brian was suspended for lying about events while covering the Iraq war in 2003.

Bill found himself in a similar situation recently when his 1982 account of the Falklands war and his proximity to it was questioned. So it makes sense that Bill feels for Brian and hopes he gets reinstated.

At one point Letterman straight up asks O'Reilly if he's ever lied on the air. And of course Bill couldn't give a straight answer.

Yet again Bill O'Reilly manages to talk a whole lot and not really say anything.

Check out the video (below) to hear Bill O'Reilly try and defend himself and Brian Williams.

NBC Nightly News Ratings Have Been Going Up Since Lester Holt Took Over For Brian Williams!

This is surprising — but only because of how quickly the turnaround has been!

Brian Williams won't be going back to his job at NBC Nightly News anytime soon since his suspension started for lying, and many believed his absence from the job would prove to tank ratings at his show… which IS what happened at first.

But we guess those who thought that are feeling pretty wrong these days as Brian's replacement for the time being, Lester Holt, has been doing one fantastic job in his place!

In fact Lester has pulled in HIGHER ratings since he stepped into the anchor chair!

Charlie Sheen Comes To Brian Williams' Defense! Check His Epic Rant HERE!

Charlie Sheen is coming to be known for two things: making up catch phrases and ranting about current news.

While his catch phrases are generally pretty amazing (winning!) it's his rants that really captivate us.

His latest came after Brian Williams was suspended for 6 months from NBC Nightly News.

Brian has found himself in hot water lately after embellishing (for years) a story about a helicopter ride in Iraq and whether or not it ever came under fire.

Regardless of why he's on suspension, Charlie Sheen is pissed that it happened! So he wrote an open letter to Brian Williams! It read:

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

NBC Nightly News' managing editor and anchor, Brian Williams recently admitted to, and then apologized for, falsely claiming that he had been in a helicopter that had come under RPG fire while in Iraq in 2003.

Many wondered what kind of punishment (if any) would be meted out to Brian, and this response from NBC is far from a slap on the wrist.

Brian will be suspended for six months without pay for his misrepresentation of events.

Here's what NBC News President Deborah Turness had to say on the matter in an email she sent out:
