venus-williams-fair-pay-documentary-wimbledon

Fab news, fab cause!

Venus Williams has taken up the fight to get fair pay for women at Wimbledon, and it's caught the eye of award-winning director Ava DuVernay!

Ava will be making an in-depth documentary about it all, called Venus VS, and it'll be broadcast on ESPN in 2013. We'll all get to see it!

Like we said, this is a cause that SHOULD be taken up, and we hope with all this attention that something will finally be done about it!

Keep up the good work, Venus!

How awesome!

We're so glad that they're making this stop during their Mylo Xyloto touring — Coldplay is going to headline the closing ceremonies of the London Paralympic Summer Games!

They call it the Festival of Flame.

Here's what Chris Martin had to say:

"Being asked to play at the closing celebrations for the Paralympic athletes in London is such a great honor for us. We are so happy to be involved. It will be one of the biggest nights of our lives and we're very excited to try to create a performance for the last night of the games that will close London 2012 in style."

Their excitement is contagious!

The show will be held at the Olympic Stadium attended by athletes with physical disabilities from around the globe.

Don't worry, though, because the rest of the world will get to see it too: it's being broadcasted to a worldwide audience of over 750 million! You're probably one of those!

Wonderful!

Magic Johnson To Make BILLIONS Through Dodgers TV Revenue

magic-johnson-make-money-tv.jpg

We previously mentioned that Magic Johnson and some buddies bought the Dodges for an astonishing $2.15 BILLION.

And we're assuming U were just as shocked as we were.

So how will they make that money back, U ask?

TV revenue.

Once the Dodger's exclusive contract with Fox ends in 2013, the team will be able to take bids from other networks.

Estimates have already reached as high as a possible $4 BILLION in revenue!

Just from TV!

A sports firm consultant said:

"This whole deal is dependent on the broadcast revenues. In many ways it was not a baseball team being marketed; a broadcast property was being marketed."

Which means they won't have to raise ticket prices and risk alienating fans.

Gotta spend money to make money we guess!
