Baz Luhrmann's Strictly Ballroom's Becoming A Musical!

If you haven't seen Strictly Ballroom, get on your Netflix queue right now and order it. It's like Moulin Rouge meets Dirty Dancing meets The Cutting Edge with Australian accents! Superb!

Baz Luhrmann's bringing his directorial debut to the live stage (as he always intended), announcing that a stage musical version of Strictly Ballroom will premiere at Sydney's Lyric Theatre in September 2013. The details of the show are being kept very close to the vest with no word on who will star, what songwriting team will compose the score or if Baz will use existing popular music in the show as he's done with his other musicals.

We don't know - it's been a long time since someone has covered Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time! Might be time for a resurgence!

Whatever he plans to do, however he approaches the project, we have nothing but confidence that this is going to be spectacular, spectacular. He's always said that Ballroom is his most "personal" piece, so we know he's going to do right by it!

We're excited!!! Are U???

Screw The Empire State Building! King Kong Is Bound For Broadway!

Way down under, a group of ambitious producers are taking on a massive undertaking - bring King Kong to life, live on stage! The devoted craftsmen at the Australian company Global Creatures are hoping to bring a production of the classic Hollywood tale to a theater in New York sometime in early 2013!

Officials from the company, who are the masterminds behind the hit arena show Walking With Dinosaurs, are near completion with their 23-foot mechanical Kong, after just finished a six-week workshop to test it. Now, what remains is to polish the script and score, cast the actors and find a theater in New York that is willing to house the the ape. It's a lot to get done, but CEO Carmen Pavlovic believes that this spectacle will be a huge hit for audiences and there is no place in the world they would rather see their creation come to life than on the Great White Way. She explains:

"Ultimately, whether there's an out-of-town tryout somewhere or not, I just feel New York is the home for this story to be told. It's Broadway bound - there's no doubt about that in my mind…If we put Kong in that very contained environment of a proscenium, we've got to make sure that in swiping his arms he doesn't inadvertently knock over a cast member in the process. We had a lot to resolve before we did that."

The model work is extremely impressive and is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Also, rest assured, even though it's being pegged a musical, the giant ape won't be busting out any tunes! That part is saved for the actors.

If they could impress people with the music as much as the technology, we see a HUGE hit for the company. We'd sure go see it just for the big guy!

How about U?

Beatles Coming To Broadway!

Rain is about to fall on the Great White Way.

The Neil Simon Theater will be home to a Broadway Beatles tribute come this fall. For 11-weeks, a Beatles cover band will play a revue concert called Rain — A Tribute to The Beatles on Broadway.

The show was happily welcomed to the theater after the Phantom of the Opera sequel, Love Never Dies, got pushed back to Spring 2011.

Guess they needed more time to figure out what's going wrong with it.

Here's a thought - you should have never made a sequel!!!

Still, Rain might be pretty good for the die hard fans.

Any of U think you might go?

Jennifer Love To Bring Her Desperate To The Great White Way???

Ugh! God, we hope not!

With her TV show FINALLY cancelled and her only future prospect being playing a prostitute on Sunset Blvd in an upcoming TV movie, Jennifer Love Hewitt is looking for her next big break.

She is hoping someone will cast her in a Broadway play! She recently admitted:

"I'm looking at possibly doing Broadway. To be able to sing and dance will be fun."

It'd be more fun if you just disappeared, like for a long time. A decade or so will do. No need to fug up 42nd street!

Broadway To Get Stung By Sting!

About time! You're a little late to this party, Sting, but hopefully you pull out something good.

Sources are revealing that the mellow music man is partnering with Tony Award-winning writer Brian Yorkie to write/compose a Broadway musical.

No details on production just yet, but sources believe that the show will be based on an origial idea from Sting and probably take place in the world in which he grew up in.

Uh, we're going to need a little more than that, Stinger.

Give us the deets!
