Oscar Producer Says Avoiding Javier/Josh Kiss Was An Honest Mistake!

Damage control or honest mistake?
We're not sure we can tell!
After ABC's telecast of Sunday's Academy Awards cut away from presenters Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin sharing an impromptu on-stage kiss and dance number, the network has received criticism once again claiming that they did this deliberately to avoid airing a same-sex lip lock!
However, Award producer Bruce Cohen has released the following statement:
“It [the dance and the kiss] was unscripted, and the plan in the truck was always to cut to Penelope in the audience applauding Josh’s and Javier’s introduction, so that is what happened, just as they were starting to dance. Josh and Javier’s moment (I saw them start to dance, but, to be honest, I have no idea if they kissed — that’s the first I’ve heard of that) would have made a great TV moment, but since no one knew it was coming, we cut to the gorgeous Mz. Cruz as planned. By the time, we cut back from her close-up, Josh and Javier were walking to the podium.”
Hmm! We understand that is must be incredibly difficult as a producer to keep an eye on EVERYTHING that's happening, while simultaneously managing what cameras are where, but that's sort of a BIG moment to miss!
Feels a little like an excuse to us, but honestly, who knows?
Just make sure it doesn't happen again, guys!
What do U think was in play here?? Homophobia or an honest mistake??
