Joaquin Phoenix Appreciates His London Critics' Circle Award…But Thinks It Probably Should Have Gone To Daniel Day-Lewis!

joaquin-phoenix-statement-london-critics-circle-award-should-go-to-daniel-day-lewis

Joaquin Phoenix has pretty much made it clear that he despises the celebrity culture and what he perceives to be ego-stroking, entitled accolades that currently encapsulate the profession of acting - and because of this, even went as far as to proclaim that the Oscars are "bullsh*t!"

So it's really no surprise to us that upon winning the title of Best Actor from the London Critics' Circle, for his work in The Master, the actor would use the opportunity in his acceptance speech to speak out against a culture that limits the scope and influence of his performance to exclusively him, and instead thanked his co-stars and director for their contributions to his work… as well as the normally and largely unrecognized crew members, without whom there would be no finished product!

Former Best Actor Nominee Joaquin Phoenix Thinks The Oscars Are 'Bullsh*t'

Andddddddd his chances for taking home an Academy Award for his critically acclaimed performance in The Master just plummeted! LOLz!

Joaquin Phoenix doesn't care though, which is kind of admirable. The actor — who made his glorious return to the screen in September after a failed rapping career mockumentary –believes Hollywood's highest honor is "total, utter bullsh*t."

He made his opinion known during a recent interview with highly respected film critic Elvis Mitchell for Interview magazine and explained his position by saying:

"I think it's bulls–t. I think it's total, utter bulls–t, and I don't want to be a part of it. I don't believe in it. It's a carrot, but it's the worst-tasting carrot I've ever tasted in my whole life. I don't want this carrot. It's totally subjective. Pitting people against each other … It's the stupidest thing in the whole world."

Is it really? Or is he just bitter because he was nominated for Walk the Line and lost?

If we take him at his word, then yes, the award really is stupid and he thought so long before he had his chance to take one home. Phoenix revealed he felt "uncomfortable" when he was nominated while continuing:

"It was one of the most uncomfortable periods of my life when Walk the Line was going through all the awards stuff and all that. I never want to have that experience again. I don't know how to explain it — and it's not like I'm in this place where I think I'm just above it — but I just don't ever want to get comfortable with that part of things."

After every Academy voter finds out just how much he despises the Oscars, then maybe he won't. Still, we kinda hope he does because in our minds, talent deserves to be rewarded!

Russell Crowe Calls "Bullsh*t" On Ryan Gosling & Albert Brooks Not Being Nominated For Oscars

russell-crowe.jpg

True that! Just as we felt the movie Drive should have been nominated for Best Picture, we're also of the opinion that the movie's stars deserved a little recognition from the Academy this year. And we're not the only ones…

Russell Crowe took to his Twitter yesterday after hearing that Ryan Gosling and Albert Brooks got snubbed by the Oscars and shared his two cents with the world. Needless to say, he's not very pleased that their performances have been overlooked from this critically acclaimed picture. He wrote:

Unpaid Interns File Lawsuit Against Fox Searchlight For…Being Unpaid Interns???

black-swan-interns-file-lawsuit-against-fox-searchlight

What on effing Earth?

They understand that these positions are generally unpaid in Hollywood, correct?

Alex Footman and Eric Glatt, two former interns who worked on the production of Black Swan have reportedly filed a lawsuit with Fox Searchlight over what they claimed to be improper use of their position, violation of federal and state wage laws, and are seeking back pay for the work they think they should have been done by paid employees.

Apparently, they

Judge Gay Custody Husband Kids

This sucks!

Here's the short of the story: A man, William Flowers, had kids with his ex-wife, and tried to get custody past his visitation rights. He married his husband last year in Connecticut. The judge, Charley E. Prine Jr., says William can't leave his kids unattended with his husband.

Which is

Keither Olbermann Warns Reporters Of "Bullshit" Attacks On His Show

Olbermann Bullshit

Keith Olbermann has a new show coming out, and it'll be the first time he's been on TV since his interesting departure from MSNBC.

In fact, he says he hasn't watched more than 5 minutes of the channel since he left, and that he's completely focused on his new content. He also says that reporters shouldn't believe the "bullshit" they hear about competitors' projections on how well his show is going to do, because he's in it for good, not for huge numbers right away. It's all about content for him:

"We're in this for the long haul," he said, adding that there are no set audience targets. If just 10 technicians for the show can see it on Monday, "that would be a satisfactory audience." Current reaches about 60 million cable and satellite homes, which puts it at a disadvantage to MSNBC, which goes to about 97 million and Fox News at about 102 million.

Also, interestingly enough, Olbermann says that Donald Sutherland is going to be a regular commentator on the show.

We're intrigued on how well this show is going to do, how unfiltered Keith gets, and if people are actually going to watch!

Are U going to be watching??
