We had no idea one of the highest grossing animated features of all-time almost never made it out of the gate!
When Pixar was nearly finished with Toy Story 2, a nameless employee accidentally tripped some sort of self-destruct sequence on the company’s hard drive and they lost HUGE chunks of data — which, in a computer generated film, is everything.
The files containing Woody and a few of the films most memorable sequences were inadvertently deleted and the company feared they lost over a year’s worth of work and millions of dollars.
In the video (above), the creative team recounts the strangely exhilarating tale of the film that almost never was.

Sources say that Tim Allen has been taking meetings with sitcom writer-producers, including Greg Daniels, of The Office and Parks and Recreation fame.
It'd be nice to see non-Buzz Lightyear Tim Allen make a comeback. He NEEDS one after he made that movie Crazy On The Outside, which NOBODY watched, and which was released on DVD and Blu-Ray exclusively at douchebaglandTarget.
Our most beloved Miz Britney Spears was spotted at the El Lay premiere of Toy Story 3 at The El Capitan Theatre on Sunday and she was all smiles as she posed with a life-sized Woody and Buzz Lightyear!!
