Parents Of 10-Year-Old Killed On Waterslide Reveal Final Words To Their Son

We can't imagine the pain and shock of the parents of Caleb Schwab, the 10-year-old boy who was killed riding the Verrückt waterslide last August.

After reaching a settlement with the Schlitterbahn Water Park, Kansas State Representative Scott Schwab and his wife, Michele, are now speaking out.

The bereaved parents told the story of that tragic day on Monday's Good Morning America — and revealed the final words Scott imparted on Caleb and his 12-year-old brother, Nathan, before they ran off to the Verrückt:

"Before they took off, I said, 'Brothers stick together,' and he said, 'I know, Dad.' I said, 'Look at me. Brothers stick together.' 'I know, Dad.'"

Family Of 10-Year-Old Boy Decapitated On Water Slide Reaches Wrongful Death Settlement With Park

We can't imagine what this family has gone through. But hopefully, this settlement eases their pain.

Last year, Kansas State Representative Scott Schwab tragically lost his 10-year-old son, Caleb, who was killed while riding the world's tallest waterslide at Kansas City's Schlitterbahn water park.

Police later confirmed the boy had been horrifically decapitated while on the Verrückt slide.

At the time, the family had filed a petition for a wrongful death settlement with Johnson County District Court, against the park's owners and the raft manufacturer.

On Wednesday, Judge Thomas Sutherland approved the settlement, saying it was "fair, reasonable, valid, just, and equitable," and was "in the best interests of all plaintiffs."

As you may know, on Sunday, tragedy struck when 10-year-old Caleb Schwab died while riding Verrückt, a water slide billed as the tallest in the world, at Kansas City's Schlitterbahn Water Park.

Following the accident, authorities were pretty tight lipped but PEOPLE learned that Caleb was actually decapitated.

A witness, Kelsey Friedrichsen, recalled making her way to the top of the slide around 3 p.m. when they saw a group gathering at the bottom. The shaken woman remembers:

World's Tallest Waterslide Where Child Was Killed Was Deemed Unsafe Just Two Years Ago — See Shocking Early Test Footage!

What terrifying info.

Following the tragic death of 10-year-old Caleb Schwab, scary information about the 168-foot water slide where he was killed has come to light.

According to the Travel Channel documentary Xtreme Waterparks, the Guinness Book of World Records-certified "world's tallest" water slide AKA Verrückt was ruled unsafe just two years ago in 2014.

One particularly frightening "glitch" caused water rafts to fly off the slide and into the air, an issue which the creator and designer of the 17-foot tall ride supposedly rectified before its grand opening in July of 2014. As you can see (above), the fault would occur at the crest of the slide's hill when riders were weightless.

What's especially crazy is, not even sandbags could weigh the rafts down during early tests. So bone-chilling!

In an interview with USA Today back in 2014, creator Jeff Henry openly admitted to the ride's flaws:
