Airline Asks Flight Attendants To Weigh Less To Cut Fuel Costs!
Ryanair, the budget European airline that brought you duct-taped on windows has now thought of another great way to save money but keep flying.
As fuel costs rise, airlines are struggling to find ways to deal with the high cost of keeping their planes in the air.
So Ryanair is going to make their planes lighter by any means necessary.
That means printing their in-flight magazine/menu on thinner paper, taking less ice onboard and reducing the weight of seats and carts.
Oh yeah, and the flight attendants have been asked to watch their weight.
Apparently in Europe it's cool to set BMI standards and hold employees to a certain weight standard or threaten termination.
That's ridiculous.
A spokesperson for the airline said:
"We encourage staff to watch their weight – with the motivation of appearing in the annual Ryanair calendar."
Wow. All of their flight attendants look like models.
We believe a workplace should encourage their staff to live healthy lifestyles through incentives like subsidizing a gym membership or offering healthier cafeteria choices, but flat out firing people for "weighing too much?"
That's plain wrong.
No matter how good your calendar looks.
