Beekman Boys Holiday Tips: Naked Hot Chocolate!!

beekman boys holiday tips naked hot chocolate

Holidays are simply not the time for sacrificing - especially when it comes down to the treats you grew up loving to share with your family. Unfortunately most of us don't have the same metabolisms we did when we were eight years old, and instead of looking for Santa, we wind up looking like Santa by Christmas Eve.

Here on the farm don't believe in artificial sweeteners or processed diet foods, so we've developed some healthy, natural ways to enjoy our favorite holiday noshing without resorting to poking new notches in our belts.

Naked hot chocolate just isn't fun. But whipped cream and marshmallows can easily double the calorie count of a steaming mug of cocoa. Instead, pull that milk frother you bought when you thought you were going to make cappucinos for yourself every morning. Using frothed milk instead of whipped cream seriously cuts into the calorie and fat count. And if you still feel the need something more festive, sprinkle a few red and green sprinkles on top.

Dr. Pepper Is Banking On 10 Calorie Sodas

Who says a diet soda has to have ZERO calories?

Dr. Pepper thinks that's a dumb cap, and has decided to pump up it's line of 10 calorie diet sodas after the success of Dr. Pepper 10!

It's just too bad with how misogynistic their advertising was — we might be a little more excited had they had a little respect. Who actually believes that men have a problem with the image and idea of diet sodas?

Lisa D’s Holiday Survival Guide

Lisa D Tip Pic

Are you one of those people who doesn't know how enjoy the holidays??

You're not alone — it can be a very stressful time. Which sucks, because it's supposed to be the opposite of that! LOLz!

No worries though. We've got your back, and so does Lisa DeFazio:

Lisa D’s Holiday Survival Guide

1. Don't arrive at the party starving; have an apple and a handful of nuts or a few crackers and hummus.

2. Grab a low calorie drink and scan the buffet for low calorie items like shrimp with cocktail sauce, veggies, baked items, fruit, etc., and make a plan!

3. Save calories for only foods you LOVE and are holiday treats. Don’t waste calories on chips and cheese.

4. Alternate alcoholic drinks with calorie-free sparkling water.

5. Socialize and use this as an opportunity to network; talking slows down eating.

6. Give containers of leftovers to guests as they leave-do not keep the high fat foods around the house!

7. If you've had enough to eat but others are still picking, place your napkin over your plate or take your plate to the kitchen and throw away what you do not eat.

8. Allow yourself one dessert per party.

9. Get back on track the next day! Do not make Thanksgiving through New Year's one big binge.

10. This is the time of year to count your blessings, enjoy the holiday decorations, and show your appreciation for what others have done for you! Don’t waste time obsessing about food.

Happy Holidays!

Beekman Boys Holiday Tips: Thin Cookies!

Thin cookies = thin you. This is really the easiest solution for coping with holiday cookies. When you're rolling out your gingerbread, or sugar cookie dough, roll it thinner! That's right. A cookie that is half as thick has half the calories. (Be sure to lessen the cooking time accordingly, though. Thinner dough will cook faster.) Even better: use smaller cookie cutters as well.
