PETA Wants Warning In New Zoo Movie

PETA is urging director Cameron Crowe to include a warning about the dangers of owning wild animals.

His new movie, We Bought A Zoo features a family, with no real training, taking care of wild animals.

PETA fears that people will think that it takes nothing more than a lot of "heart" to take care of exotic animals.

Due to the recent Ohio tragedy, where around 50 exotic animals were shot dead, PETA released a statement:

"We Bought a Zoo conveys the misleading and downright dangerous message that no special knowledge—just a lot of heart—is needed to run a zoo.

As the tragedy in Ohio gruesomely illustrates, wild animals aren't Disney characters. They have very special needs that all too often aren't met by people who buy them on a whim because they think it would be 'cool' to own a tiger."

You hear that people? Just because you want a tiger, doesn't mean you have the time, training or resources to take care of it.

And even if you do you still shouldn't get one. Wild animals belong in the wild.

PETA Sends A Letter To Director Cameron Crowe

Cameron Crowe

A leading primatologist, Dr. Malik, has sent a letter to director Cameron Crowe on PETA’s behalf in response to recent comments made by Crowe.

Crowe was talking about Crystal, the capuchin monkey most recently in the Hangover II, saying she is:

"not just the hottest actress around, but also the most compelling."

He also said that monkeys are:

"like Mickey Rourke [because they] do nothing you tell them to."

In the letter, Dr. Malik explains how the “highly social” monkeys are taken from their mothers at birth, kept in relative isolation, and not given proper exercise on movie sets.

So sad!

She compells him to use today's technology, such as animatroincs or CGI, instead of animal actors. Not a bad idea, especially after such a big CGI hit like Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Read Dr. Malik’s entire letter after the jump…

New Images From We Bought a Zoo

we bought a zoo family photo

We are sooo excited for this movie!!

New stills from Cameron Crowe’s new film We Bought a Zoo have been released.

The Almost Famous director admitted he wasn't animal totally obsessed with animals before the working on this project. But now he's seen the processional and personal benefits form animals.

"I didn't know the power of the animal on-screen. I don't have a million critters around the house. But I may now, though."

AW! We have our fingers and paws crossed that this film will be Crow's big come-back.

See more movie stills featuring the film's stars Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson below!!

Cameron Crowe Gushes Over His Monkey Actress

monkey actress

Our most favez monkey actress, Crystal, is back!

It's only been a few months since the capuchin monkey America's hosttest new actress dazzled movie goers (and illegal downloaders) in The Hangover Part II.

Coming this December, Crystal will be co-staring in Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo! (His first feature film since 2005).

Crowe said of the monkey's performance:

"We feel this is Crystal’s breakthrough performance. It is her Carnal Knowledge. The role brings out colors we have yet to see. It is more mature than her Todd Phillips work. She is not just the hottest actress around, but also the most compelling"

We sure hope he's telling the truth!

The writer/director is relying on performances of Crystal and her co-stars Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson to recover the critical reputation he damaged with Elizabethtown.

Pearl Jam Plans 20th Anniversary Music Festival!

pearl-jam-plans-20th-anniversary-festival

Wow! This will be an absolutely AMAZING way to pay tribute to their beginnings!

In honor of the 20 anniversary of the release of their first album, alternative rock band Pearl Jam is reportedly in talks to stage a two-day musical festival in "the middle of America," and featuring a variety of other acts!

Their manager, Kelly Curtis, reveals that the band will headline both nights, and will take place sometime in late summer, when Cameron Crowe's documentary chronicling their career is expected to drop.

Bassist Jeff Ament explains:

"We've played enough festivals that we know what makes them exciting. We want to give people places to go that aren't necessarily musical — second stages and all that kind of stuff. We're asking our friends if they want to play a couple of shows with us."

So cool! What a nice way to revisit the early '90s, and the music from that time!

We bet a lot of people are going to be VERY excited about this one!

What do U think?? Are U excited for a Pearl Jam anniversary concert??

Carey Mulligan In Talks To Play Gatsby's Daisy

carey-mulligan-in-talks-to-play-daisy.jpg

Now we're talking!

While we love Scarlett Johansson, Carey Mulligan is the perfect choice to play the boyish 1920s flapper in Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.

The film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, has had a string of young actresses attached, with Scarlett being the most recent name attached. However, with her commitment to Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo, sources say Scarlett won't be available by the time filming begins next summer.

So now, Carey Mulligan has stepped in to be the front-runner and we couldn't have pictured a more perfect Daisy ourselves!
