Awesome Trick: Dog Fetches Beer

beer dog

Man's BFF indeed!

Winnipeg resident Paul Carr has his made his yellow Labrador retriever "earn his keep" by teaching him how to fetch beer!

“He’s called an American heel Lab, but I call him the great Canadian beer Lab,” Carr told the Winnipeg Sun on Tuesday, as his dog Murphy sat ready to fetch cans of ale from inside a small fridge in a Transcona back yard. “Could you have anything better than your dog to get beer for you?”

A dog that also fetches Long Island Ice Teas perhaps? But we agree, Murphy is a super fab fella!

When Murphy was a puppy Carr realized that the lab has a knack for learning tricks, the beer stunt is the latest.

“I got tired of running back and forth. So I thought, ‘Let’s get Murphy to earn his keep.’ And within two minutes, he had it figured out. Now, he’s fetching beers for everybody. He loves it. He’s excited about it. And, well, he gets a carrot afterward too. That helps.”

Argentina Vs Beavers

Argentina Vs Beavers

It's on!

In 1946 someone thought it would be super-duper cute to put some Canadian beavers in Argentina's Tierra del Fuego National Park.

So Argentine officials put 25 of the happy little beavers in the park, and and for the past 60 years the tourists who flock to the southern tip of South America rejoice when they see the beavers busily building dams and gnawing through trees.

Lovely, except for one thing: the Argentine beaver population has now grown from 50 to 200,000.

It's virtual army that is chomping, cutting and flooding forests across this frosty, remote archipelago known as Tierra del Fuego, or Land of Fire. And the beavers are moving north, having swum across the turbulent, freezing waters of the Strait of Magellan.

Today, the rodents cause millions of dollars in damage, often to roads flooded by beaver dams.

Recently the government has been in talks about hiring professional sharpshooters to search and destroy every last one of them, perhaps even from helicopters.

This comes as a sad surprise to those of us that thought you could never have too much beaver.

How Sweet?!

Ashley Tisdale holds onto her wrapped up dog Maui as the duo head to the gym in Vancouver.

The good mommy is doing a great job of keeping her toy poodle safe form the Canadian winter.

We're not sure where her other dog, Blondie, is.

The HellCats star will be reprising her role from High School Muscial 1-3 in the Disney Channle movie Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure later this year.

Joss Stone's Skin Shown For PETA

Joss Stone's new PETA ad

Singer Joss Stone is wearing nothing but a teddy for a new PETA ad to promote Bear Hugs, Not Bear Caps.

The campaign takes aim against the slaughter of Canadian black bears to make the tall fur caps worn by Queen’s Guard soldiers.

Joss says of her efforts to protect the Canadian fuzzy wuzzies:

“I have teamed up with Peta for a new Bear Hugs, Not Bear Caps campaign to put a stop to the slaughter. When I heard how the bears are cruelly baited and killed I was upset and shocked. Stop using bearskin and go faux.”

We totally agree! With all of the options available to create fur-like clothing without actually using fur, it's puzzling why anybody still uses fur!
