Things have been a LOT better between Angelina Jolie and her father Jon Voight since they had a major falling out in the early 2000's, but apparently there are still a few minor communication issues to work out!

Jon says he had NO clue that his daughter was planning on having a double mastectomy to lower her risk of cancer! In fact, he had to find out about it the same way we all did: Through the internet!

Angie and her dad saw each other just two days before she went under the knife, but he says the subject never came up for some strange reason:

Angelina Jolie is NOT going to let a little thing like surgery keep her down!

The actress/director's strength has definitely not been in doubt lately after she revealed she had a double mastectomy and plans to have her ovaries removed to reduce her risk of cancer! But an article posted by her surgeon gives us even MORE of a reason to be inspired by Angie!

Dr. Kristi Funk of the Pink Lotus Breast Center released a detailed account of her medical journey in hopes of raising awareness for other women who might find themselves in a similar position, and there's one big detail that sticks out. Angelina was planning work on her next project just FOUR days after being under the knife!

Angelina Jolie is a pretty amazing mom, so it's no wonder she has some awesome kids!

The actress has recently put her bravery on full display as she announced not one, but TWO preventative surgeries she is having to reduce her risk of cancer.

The operations certainly can't be easy on Angie, but luckily she doesn't have to do it alone as she has 6 little cheerleaders on her side: Her children!

Angelina Jolie is one tough lady!

The actress/ director recently revealed that she was recovering from a double mastectomy she had to reduce her risk of breast cancer. But now it looks like her battle isn't done just yet, as she plans on having another surgery to have her ovaries removed.

Apparently the same, defective BRCA1 gene that led to her last operation also puts her at a 50% risk to develop ovarian cancer. Well Angie didn't like those odds and decided to go under the knife one more time!

It's one thing to do something for yourself and your own health — and it's another to do something for yourself, your own health, AND you get praise from the mother-in-law (not quite an official term yet!) to do it!

Jane Pitt, Brad Pitt's mother, is extremely proud of Angelina Jolie for making the very difficult decision to get a double mastectomy!

Angelina Jolie was so brave to reveal to the world her decision to undergo a double mastectomy.

And her courage is giving others the strength to talk about their own procedures!

Barbara Walters said today on The View that she too had preventative surgery! She said:

"My sister passed away from ovarian cancer and I had my ovaries removed. It’s not like having the breasts because people don’t see it. But it’s a decision you have to make — it’s preventative. What I think with Angelina Jolie — she’s such a sex symbol and we associate sex with breasts. And the fact that she did this and has retained her beauty and her sexuality. I think it was brave of her, she did it for her own health, but it was so brave to write about it. A women’s sexuality is not tied up with her breasts."

The sparkling Empress that is Angelina Jolie has JUST revealed that she recently underwent a double mastectomy in order to greatly reduce her risk of breast cancer!

In a poignant NY Times article, Angie expresses that ever since her mother began battling cancer — a battle she eventually lost in her 50s — the actress always knew she might be genetically prone to experiencing the life-sucking affliction.

The director and diplomat shares:

"My doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer, although the risk is different in the case of each woman.

Only a fraction of breast cancers result from an inherited gene mutation. Those with a defect in BRCA1 have a 65 percent risk of getting it, on average.

Once I knew that this was my reality, I decided to be proactive and to minimize the risk as much I could. I made a decision to have a preventive double mastectomy. I started with the breasts, as my risk of breast cancer is higher than my risk of ovarian cancer, and the surgery is more complex."

She goes on to describe her experiences with various surgeries and concludes the article by detailing her reasons for sharing this very personal information, information she's kept private until now.

Angelina expresses:

"I choose not to keep my story private because there are many women who do not know that they might be living under the shadow of cancer. It is my hope that they, too, will be able to get gene tested, and that if they have a high risk they, too, will know that they have strong options.

Life comes with many challenges. The ones that should not scare us are the ones we can take on and take control of."

We are incredibly impressed by Mz. Jolie's decision, not only to go under the knife, but to then share her story with the world in hopes that she can help someone prevent the terrible!
