What the what!!!
A high school student, Angela Zhang, might have just found the cure for cancer.
Zhang, who is only 17 years old, has taken home a check of $100,000 from the national Siemens science contest. It's now is being suggested that her research could lead to a potential cure for cancer.
Here's what she said about what she created:
"I created a nanoparticle that's kind of like the Swiss Army knife of cancer treatment in that it can detect cancer cells, eradicate the cancer cells and then monitor the treatment response. So the major aim of the project was to personalize cancer medicine. I'm excited to learn just everything possible. Everything in the sciences — biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, even computer science — to make new innovations possible."
You're 17!! How is this even remotely fitting in to your texting and sleepovers??
This is truly an inspiration. We are so overwhelmed with joy that there are people like this in the world — who truly care about helping others — regardless of age!
Congrats, Angela! How wonderful!
