Wow.

There is at least one person coming to the defense of Capt. Owen Honors, who screened several homophobic and offensive videos while he was second in command on the USS Enterprise.

The sailor sent a letter to the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, an organization for gay and lesbian military personnel, asking for them to retract the statements they made. The ones that caused him to be removed from duty!

The sailor wrote:

"As a gay man that served onboard the USS Enterprise during both the '06 and '07 deployments I was never once offended by Capt. Honors' choice of humor. I have begun to make contact with my fellow gay service members who were also on those deployments. We will band together to show our support for Capt. Honors."

And since when does he speak for EVERYONE?! Just because he wasn't offended doesn't mean someone else wasn't!

We don't blame her! We'd be furious, too!

Glenn Close has inadvertently become a part of the recent Navy scandal, involving Captain Owen Honors - the former second in command of the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise - and a series of leaked videos from 2006 and 2007 that feature him making homophobic slurs, yelling expletives, mimicking masturbation, and other lewd behavior, all oh which were created while on active duty overseas!

Apparently, the actress appears during a montage at the end of one of the video, wearing a Navy hat and holding a toucan!

Although it's unclear as to why it was recorded, she has come forward to reveal that it is, in fact, her - but she had nothing to do with the clips, and is FURIOUS that they incorporated her into one!

She explains:

"I am distraught that my image has been used to perpetuate something that I abhor. The cynical, unauthorized use of my image in this video is deeply offensive and insulting, and was the result of a seemingly innocent request of me during a visit to the aircraft carrier over four years ago."

Wow!

It's pretty despicable that they took advantage of her presence on the ship and put her into something so crass without her consent!

Such an unbelievable shame!

We hope that proper actions will be taken to ensure that this kind of behavior is not tolerated anymore in that environment!

Good! This is exactly what needs to happen!

We reported yesterday that the U.S. Navy was investigating top officer, Captain Owen Honors, for his part in a series of leaked videos from 2006 and 2007 that featured him making homophobic slurs, yelling expletives, mimicking masturbation, and displaying other lewd behavior while he as second in command on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise.

While many have come to his support, and claimed that the videos were 'morale-boosters' and taken out of context, the Navy doesn't seem to think so, and have temporarily suspended Honors of his post while the matter is investigated!

Fair enough, we say!

We imagine that there are a lot of other ways to keep crew's morale high without having to resort to homophobic slurs and lewd gestures, so we're not sure that we buy that as an excuse!

What do U think?? Was Capt. Honors out of line??
