The Met Gala came and went in a whirlwind of fashion activity on Monday night!

We had the good and the bad, but we also had some conspicuous trends.

That quintessential punk staple — the safety pin — found its way onto Carey Mulligan's dress and Zooey Deschanel's clutch.

Paloma Faith, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Katy Perry rocked the headpieces, which was a golden crown in Katy's case!

Paloma also got on the gloved-sleeve trend along with Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Kerry Washington.

Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie, Cara Delevingne and January Jones were all rocking some major ear bling and cuffs while Jessica Biel and Karen Elson opted for small little septum rings.

Quite a few lovely ladies showed off the fruits of their workout regimes in belly-baring numbers, like Gwen Stefani, Olivia Wilde, Nicki Minaj, and Miranda Kerr.

Then there were the rebels, like Anna Wintour and new bestie Kimmy, who wore very non-punk floral gowns.

Maybe they were the most punk of all! LOLz!

Carey Mulligan makes punk look so sweet!

The little Great Gatsby pixie wore Balenciaga at the Met Gala tonight, and as much as we love her soft and kitten-like persona, we were looking for something edgier tonight!

C'mon, it's punk!

We mean, yeah, we see that safety pin, but gurrrl…you're married to a Mumford! Rock out!

Awww, we love couples that love to hold hands!!!

Carey Mulligan and hubby Marcus Mumford pretty much lead the way when it comes to hand-holding, as they recently proved while strolling to lunch in New York.

Apparently the Great Gatsby starlet and the Mumford & Sons lead singer walked around, grabbed lunch, and went to get Carey’s passport photo taken. Hmmm, sounds like a big trip is in store! We wonder where her travels will be taking her next!!

And vaguely off-topic, but we are also loving Marcus’s monogrammed belt buckle! He’s totally rockin’ it.

Despite starring in a ridiculously glitzy and glam movie, Carey Mulligan continues to go for demure looks on the red carpet.

But we can't deny that her Lanvin tuxedo at a special screening of The Great Gatsby in NYC on Sunday was truly SUAVE!

The 27-year-old wore the exquisitely tailored suit, which featured pointed shoulders and contrast lapel, very well, styling it with five-inch Brian Atwood heels and Tiffany & Co. jewels.

As has been the case at the past several Gatsby promotional events, Carey kept her hair and makeup look as simple as possible.

There are still a few premieres to get through, including the super glamorous Cannes Film Festival, so maybe she's saving the best for last.

We're more than ready to see her in a decadent gown! Let's hope she delivers!

Better believe it!

Carey Mulligan lived out thousands of women's fantasies when she was cast in The Great Gatsby as the great Leonardo DiCaprio's love interest, but she evidently doesn't feel the same.

In fact, though it was Carey's smooch with the everlasting bachelor that won her the role, she didn't even like it.

SAY WHAT??!

We get that the dainty Brit is married to adorable Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford and there must've been a whole crew present during their pucker up, but it's Leo EFFIN' DiCaprio!

Just his touch would probably put us in cardiac arrest! LOLz!!!!

We guess it’s fitting that a movie about an extravagant party host would hold pretty much the ULTIMATE premiere party!

The Great Gatsby features an A-list cast, A-list soundtrack, and A-list EVERYTHING. So of course they decided to have the most A-list party EVER to celebrate!!

If we listed every single celeb that showed up, that would take all day. But here are a few: Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Baz Luhrmann, Jay-Z, Carey Mulligan, Jamie Foxx, Amanda Seyfried, Jake Gyllenhaal, Lil Jon, Florence Welch, etc, etc, etc!!!!!
