How I Met Your Mother fans’ socks were knocked off following Monday night’s season finale reveal!

Portrayed by Broadway star Cristin Milioti, Ted’s wife finally made her appearance in the last few moments of Season 8 — effectively giving way to a myriad of fan questions.

Co-creator Carter Bays had hinted that the show’s ninth and final season would be “the epic story of the longest wedding weekend ever.” Thankfully, CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler gave a slightly more detailed bit of insight.

She added that the entirety of the final season will revolve around the wedding weekend and will feature “how each character, before Ted, meets the mother.” She continued:

“They each meet her independently before he does.”

Whoa! Sounds like this’ll make for a pretty detailed story! Can’t wait!

Love that she's trying new things in 2011!

Katy Perry will guest star on CBS' How I Met Your Mother later this season as Zoey's (Jennifer Morrison) cousin and potential love interest for Ted (Josh Radnor).

In the episode titled Oh Honey, she is described as "a beautiful, naive girl who the gang resorts to calling 'honey'."

"Katy is a tremendous talent and we are delighted to be able to work with her," said Carter Bays, co-creator and executive producer of the show.

Can't wait to see it!

Well isn't that sweet?

They said from the get-go that she wouldn't be the oh-so-mysterious "Mother" character and yet they still let her come back for another episode!

Rachel Bilson has landed another guest-spot on the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother as the yet-to-be revealed mother's roommate, Cindy, in the season premiere!

Series creator Carter Bays says:

“The season premiere is going to be very much informed by her presence."

We're glad to see she's getting work now that her contract is up she called off the engagement to Gayden!
