After seeing so much death around her, Catalina Escobar was determined to help teenage mothers in Colombia.
She's succeeded in ways she's never expected.
In the last ten years she has "brought health care to tens of thousands of children in Cartagena and provided more than 2,000 teenage mothers with counseling, education and job training."
Here's what she said:
"You see these girls, [with] their tiny faces … they're babies holding babies,When a girl gets pregnant, she drops out of school. … Next year, she's going to be pregnant again. She's repeating the same patterns of the mother, the grandmother."
To support these young mothers, she's built a state of the art facility where the rate of infant deaths has dropped by a whopping 67% from when it originally started - simply AMAZING.
