U.S. Heat Wave Turns Deadly

Heat wave

So sad!

22 people have lost their lives this week due to the extreme heat facing most of the central and southern United States.

Temperatures have hit 100 degrees and are now moving east with the same ridiculously hot, hot heat hitting Washington D.C. on Thursday.

Yikes! Stay inside and drink LOTS of water!

1,500 cattle have also died in South Dakota because of the heat wave, so remember to keep your pets out of the sun and for God's sake, don't leave them alone in a car!

With the unusually high temperatures expected to last into August, experts suggest the heat wave could rival the effects of the deadly heat wave in 1995, which claimed hundreds of lives in Chicago alone.

Science: 'Cows Have BFFs'

"Cows Have BFFs" - Science

Move over Milo and Otis!

The farm has some new best friends 4 Evsies.

Cows have best friends and become stressed if they are separated, according to research.

In the study cattle were penned on their own, with their best friend or with another cow they did not know for 30 minutes and their heart rates were measured at 15-second intervals.

The research showed cows were very social animals which often formed close bonds with friends in their herd.

Krista McLennan, who made the discovery while working on her PhD at Northampton University, said:

'If we can encourage farmers to keep an eye out for those cows which like to keep their friends with them, it could have some real benefits, such as improving their milk yields and reducing stress for the animals, which is very important for their welfare."

So it turns out happy cows do make happy cheese!

Question: when a cow gets dumped does her bff bring over ice cream? Somehow we don't think so.

Deadly And Historical Animal Disease Is Eradicated

rinderpest is over

Hooray!

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization declared Tuesday that the world was rid of rinderpest.

It decimated herds and caused disaster, devastation and death associated with the fall of the Roman Empire, the French Revolution and the colonization of Africa.

It's been a long time come'n - but after years of global efforts, rinderpest (German for cattle plague) doesn't exist anymore!!

It is the first animal disease to be eradicated and only the second disease ever, after smallpox in 1980.

First it took a couple thousand years to get the first one and only thirty-one years to get our second.

At this rate we'll conquer the 709,899,993 other disease in no time!

Steroids Landed Baywatch Alum Jeremy Jackson In Rehab

Jeremy Jackson steroids

Poor Hoby!

Jeremy Jackson, who played David Hasselhoff's son on Baywatch, has revealed his dark past that forced him into the upcoming season of VH1's Celebrity Rehab.

Steroids!

The former child star recently explained to Access Hollywood that he became so obsessed with working out to prepare for acting roles, he stopped going to auditions entirely to focus on his physique!

His addiction to his body image became so bad that he began taking drugs farmers give to their cattle before they slaughter them to build up his muscles!

Yuck! You know you're in trouble when you're taking drugs used to beef up cows!

While opening up about his addiction, he recently said:

"I just got distracted. I got pulled into it and it became all about diet and body image and I stopped doing the things that were important to me, and that's when it became very unhealthy for me… I was unhappy."

We're so sorry to hear about all that, but we're glad he's getting or got the help he needed.

While we're not sure Jeremy will ever get his acting career up and running again, he has expressed interest in entering "physique competition" that tests for illegal drugs and steroids.

Good luck, Jeremy! We hope you stay clean!

10,000 Cattle Die In Vietnam!

Mass cattle die in Vietnam

Earlier this week we reported news of 200 cows dying in Wisconsin, but now in other weird, disturbing dead animal news 10,000 cattle have died nationwide in Vietnam!

Vietnam government is saying the deaths are due to an intense winter and harsh weather conditions.

Our question is, if the weather is so harsh how come only cattle died? Why not other animals?

Lately, we've had a lot more questions than answers about all these animals dying and we hope we'll get some answers soon from our own government!

Thoughts???
