We guess parading around dressed up as Batman wouldn't be as intimidating in real life as it is in the movies, but Christian Bale has always done a good job of convincing us otherwise.
Still, the actor revealed in a recent interview that he felt "silly" while walking around set in the "bizarre Halloween costume." As a result, he had to become a bit of "a monster" to cope and explained:
“I just know it’s silly old me inside of it, but what you have to do in order to stop feeling that way, in order to stop feeling like someone just walking around in a bizarre Halloween costume, is you have to really think about it, you know? You look and say ‘What would drive somebody to dress in this fashion?’ There’s issues. Because he’s serious, he’s not making a joke here. And so you must become a monster, you know, so you feel like an animal when you’re inside of that suit.”
So what he's saying is…Bruce Wayne is just as crazy as The Joker after all?
Having another hero suiting up with him in The Dark Knight Rises probably eased his anxiety a bit!
Talking within the context of the actual film, Bale explained his character's relationship with Anne Hathaway's Catwoman Selina Kyle by saying:
“What it does is she rejuvenates Bruce Wayne. When we begin the movie, you see that Bruce Wayne is just a shell of the man that he used to be, that Batman has disappeared. And Anne [Hathaway's] character, Selina Kyle, arrives and just starts giving him that spark of life again. She makes him laugh. She’s stealing from him, but he finds it hilarious. He just loves how brazen she is.”
We're looking forward to seeing their chemistry on screen and everything else this movie has in store for us!
