Disney just can't help but stir up controversy lately!

The latest comes from teen sitcom Jessie. The newest episode pokes fun at a little boy with a restricted diet, and includes a scene where a nanny throws pancakes at the gluten-free child.

Well fans who suffer from celiac disease, a disorder that causes their bodies to react painfully to gluten, were outraged. And they made their outrage heard.

The Disney channel released a statement on its Facebook page, saying:

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, steadfastly opinionated co-host of the View, has said that she's feeling great now that they know what was wrong with her!

She had been plagued with fatigue, weight fluctuations, and problems conceiving. It wasn't until recently that they figured out it was celiac disease — which is a reaction to gluten. There IS a difference between celiac disease and being allergic to gluten, though, and that was the importance of the diagnosis.
