Jar Jar Binks is often regarded as one of the most despised characters in all of film.

But George Lucas still possesses an unconditional love for the Star Wars character that only a father could give.

At this weekend's D23 Expo, Lucas revealed that the character was actually inspired by a Disney character — Goofy! He explained:

"I can't even begin to tell you how much of an influence Disney has had on me. I will say one secret that nobody knows; not many people realize that Goofy was the inspiration for Jar Jar Binks…I know that you will look at him differently now. It's pretty obvious, actually, but, um, I love Goofy and I love Jar Jar."

The First Star Wars: The Force Awakens Poster Reveals A MAJOR Spoiler!

It looks like The Force Awakens will be promoted in the same spirit as the original Star Wars films!

At Disney's D23 convention on Sunday, the first ever poster for the upcoming blockbuster was revealed. Just like the iconic posters from the original trilogy, the new advertisement is painted!

The artwork was created by Drew Struzan, who's classic retro style has been featured in posters for the other films in the Star Wars series — and even the Indiana Jones films!

While this isn't the primary poster Struzan will make for the film, it still reveals a little bit about the plot!

John Boyega's character, Finn — seen in the trailer as a rogue storm trooper — appears to be a Jedi, as we see him holding a blue lightsaber!

Also seen on the poster is Daisy Ridley's character Rey, the villainous Kylo Ren, and of course Harrison Ford's silver fox Han Solo!

Director J.J. Abrams has been pretty silent on the characters of Finn and Rey — he isn't even revealing their last names because it would give too much away.

Can that mean at least one of them is a Solo or Skywalker? Find out when The Force Awakens hits theaters on December 18!

This Early Footage Of Chris Farley Voicing Shrek From 1997 Will Make You Question Everything! Watch Here!

Chris Farley's last official movie credit is 1998's Western comedy Almost Heroes with Matthew Perry. But the late comedy legend was working on another role at the time of his death, which would be one of the most recognizable animated characters of all time.

The Saturday Night Live alum was originally cast as everyone's favorite green ogre in the 2001 animated film Shrek before he died of a drug overdose in 1997.

But the funny man's version of the titular character would have been very different than the one we're familiar with! Kevin Farley, who is executive producer of the new documentary I am Chris Farley, said:

"Originally the Shrek character was a little bit more like Chris, like a humble, bumbling innocent guy."

The lead role of the DreamWorks fairytale comedy ultimately went to Farley's SNL co-star Mike Myers, who gave the ogre a Scottish accent and a bigger attitude. But the Farley family isn't bitter that the studio recast the role. Kevin explains:

"I understand why [they replaced him]. The studio needed to do what they needed to do. It was a bad time, bad timing… a tragedy. Mike did a great job with Shrek. He knocked it out of the park."

Want to listen to the late comedian's version of Shrek? Check out the early storyboard footage featuring Farley's dialogue from 1997:

During a press junket on Tuesday, the Grey's Anatomy creator defended her decision to kill off Patrick Dempsey's beloved character Derek Shepherd.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, the 45-year-old explained the alternative would go against everything the show set up, saying:

"What were the options? Either Der was going to walk out on Mer and leave her high and dry, and what was that going to mean? That would suggest the love wasn't true, the thing we had said for 11 years was a lie."

Rhimes explained that McDreamy's death was the only way he could leave his wife, continuing:
