Michelle Obama Surprises Humanitarian Award Winner Chance The Rapper At The 2017 BET Awards!

Video 8 by tvshows_

The BET Awards are giving back to Chance The Rapper for giving back to Chi-town.

The rapper — sorry, MISTER The Rapper — is the youngest recipient ever of the Humanitarian Award, for his work with SocialWorks, empowering Chicago's youth through "arts, education, and civic engagement."

While a video package including Common and 2016 recipient Jesse Williams was inspiring, we were floored — and we're sure Chance was too — when Michelle Obama popped up with a special video message!

She called the 24-year-old "an inspiration to all of us," which, coming from this former FLOTUS, is about the highest compliment possible.

CEOs Experiencing The 'Realities' Of Homelessness Through VR Is The Definition Of Out Of Touch!

Sometimes we must walk in someone else's shoes to gain perspective. But if those shoes are too dirty and depressing to wear, walking around in virtual reality should be good enough.

That's what executives at the CEO Sleepout learned when this year's charity event used the power of VR headsets to break the cycle of homelessness!

The Australian charity initiative from the St. Vincent de Paul Society brings together Aussie CEOs every year to "sleep out" for one night and experience for themselves how the homeless live every day.

The event rakes in money to the charity, with people able to "sponsor" one of the hundreds of CEOs roughing it through the cold with nothing but a piece of cardboard to lie on.

But one of the new additions to this year's event sparked outrage online: a virtual reality experience that allowed CEOs to "get a glimpse of the realities faced by the people who experience this every day."

The CEO Sleepout account tweeted out a video of CEOs getting a taste of homelessness through the window of their VR headsets, and Twitter users quickly harpooned organizers for being (quite literally) out of touch with reality:

Celebrities brought together by tragedy.

Last week, Simon Cowell assembled Artists for Grenfell – a group of A-list singers to record a charity single for the devastating Grenfell Tower fire that claimed the lives of 79 people.

Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Rita Ora, Leona Lewis, Jessie J, and Stormzy are just a few artists featured on the moving track recorded in honor of those who lost their possessions, homes, and lives in the inferno.

The recording, a heartbreaking cover of Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water, also features vocals from Robbie Williams, Bastille, Geri Halliwell, James Blunt, Nile Rodgers, the London Community Gospel Choir, and more British artists.

As for the survivors, the government has acquired 68 luxury apartments in neighboring Kensington to permanently house those left homeless by the fire. The lavish complex includes a 24-hour concierge, swimming pool, and private cinema.

City communities secretary Sajid Javid made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon, saying "it is our duty to support" the residents of Grenfell Tower, whose lives — and, in some tragic cases, loved ones — literally went up in flames.

Our heart goes out to all those affected by this horrible incident. Take a listen to the moving song (below).
