As if we weren't already upset enough about Roger Ebert's passing, we have such mixed emotions over his wife Chaz's description of their life together — we're saddened that such an amazing time together has to come to and end, but we're elated that they had that experience together at all!

Remembering her beloved, she eloquently revealed:

"We were getting ready to go home today for hospice care, when he looked at us, smiled, and passed away. No struggle, no pain, just a quiet, dignified transition."

"He fought a courageous fight. I've lost the love of my life and the world has lost a visionary and a creative and generous spirit who touched so many people all over the world. We had a lovely, lovely life together, more beautiful and epic than a movie. It had its highs and the lows, but was always experienced with good humor, grace and a deep abiding love for each other."

We can't even handle this. We are so so SO moved by her words!

If there is one person who looked Hollywood dead in the eye without flinching, it was Roger Ebert!

There isn't a man, woman, or child in the film industry who was immune to a thumbs down when it was warranted!!

Roger adored movies, though, and it showed.

His enduring passion and elegant honesty earned him the respect of colleagues and filmmakers alike — even those he occasionally skewered in a bad review!!

And absolutely no one is surprised that Hollywood's biggest names are already showering the man who passed just hours ago with beautiful and well-deserved eulogies.

Jaws mastermind Steven Spielberg offered his heartfelt statement today.
