Another News Shakeup: George Stephanopoulos Returns To This Week As Christiane Amanpour Returns To CNN

George Stephanopoulos was once the anchor of This Week on ABC, but left the job to take the role of co-anchor on Good Morning America. The void was later filled by Christiane Amanpour last year, who left her post as CNN's chief international correspondent after 27 years.
The tables are now turning again as Christiane has decided to return to CNN, this time to host a new weekday show for CNN International. Rather than bring some newbie into the all too important role, George will be returning to This Week as of next year, to anchor the ABC news show. No worries though; there won’t be a vacancy at the Good Morning table. George will pull double duty, balancing hosting both programs.
Phew! That was a lot to get through!
It seems the change in lineup hasn’t taken a toll on the competing networks. In fact, both sides seem pretty happy with the deal, especially CNN. The network’s Worldwide President Jim Walton said in an e-mail message to CNN staff:
