It Takes A Village… To Win The Lottery??

El Gordo

70 households in an isolated farming village in Spain were having a tough time with an economic downturn and a huge drought.

Things were bad.

So Spain has this huge Christmas lottery, right, called El Gordo. It's a big thing. People in the town weren't even going to try it, but reluctantly did. They bought tickets because of the homemakers' association which makes some money on the sales. It helps, right? Actually, yes — in more ways than one!

The number hit — and all but one of the houses got a claim in the $950 million prize!

It happens to be the biggest prize they've ever given, too!

A lot of the residents won millions, and even the lowest takers walked away with

Katherine Heigl Receives A Nice Note…Asking Her To Take Down Her Christmas Lights!

utahans-complain-about-heigl-christmas-lights-web.jpg

Awww, how thoughtful!

Katherine Heigl and hubby Josh Kelley like to take a Christmas sabbatical to the mountains of Utah.

Last year, the Utahans left a "civilized note" for the happy couple from their community leaders.

What did it say? Heigl and Kelley "failed" to take down their Christmas lights.

Katherine shrugged off the notice and said the following:

Hit The Brakes! Halle Berry Is NOT Engaged!

halle-berry-not-engaged.jpg

Oh Lordy, the tall tales people come up with.

Okay, so apparently the reports of Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez getting engaged over the holidays was a bit premature. Now we're hearing that the story was all but a rumor sparked after Olivier bought Halle a ring for Christmas.

A ring — not an engagement ring.

However,

What?! David Fincher Might Not Direct The Tattoo Sequels?

Oh, Sony! What are you doing to us?! What are you doing???

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo remains on everyone's radar and while it may not have been the box-office smash that the studio was hoping for, they have already given the green-light to start pre-production the films two sequels. No doubt Sony sees the longterm financial reward of completing the entire series, but if sources on the inside are correct, there could be one MAJOR problem with getting these films off the ground:

Director David Fincher is already busy.

The gameplan over at Sony is to

18-Year-Old Widow Stops At Nothing To Protect Her Infant Son From Violent Home Invaders!

We hate to have to celebrate any loss of life, but this woman's story is truly incredible, and she needs to be lauded for her bravery in such dire circumstances.

Sarah McKinley, an 18 year old mother of an infant boy and, as of Christmas day, widow to a deceased husband who lost his battle with cancer, was forced to shoot and kill an intruder in Oklahoma on New Year's Eve when he and accomplice attempted to break into her house with force and a long hunting knife.

Check out a news report on the horrific events (above)!

So absolutely twisted that this man would single out someone who had already endured so much, and wish to inflict more pain and violence upon them.

But

Broadway Is In A Bad Way!

broadway-slump.jpg

Unless your name is Wolverine.

January is infamously a terrible month for the Great White Way. The tourists have gone on home for the holiday season and everyone in the tri-state area is too broke to afford tickets to the show after all the holiday shopping. On average, most shows can even pull half their normal attendance during the weeks following Christmas, but things seem extra bleak this year as some of the most high-profiled shows on Broadway even strugggled during the holiday season.

Take the musical revival On A Clear Day You Can See Forever, for instance. It filled 55 percent of its seats last week (the week of New Year's_ and earned 29 percent of its potential gross despite its A-list leading man, Harry Connick Jr. Sure, he's not Hugh Jackman, but he's just as good!

And then
