Why Jackass 3D Will Be Better Than Avatar

Avatar was cool, but we thought that the Pandora battle scenes would have been better if they had featured a slingshot port-a-potty.

The folks at MTV Films must have ESP or something, because the Jackass 3D trailer includes a man sitting in a portable toilet being flung through the air. Awesome.

Jackass 3D will be released in theaters on October 15, and we’re kind of looking forward to it.

Lately, there have been some 3D films where the third dimension isn’t really utilized, such as Clash of the Titans or Pixar’s Up, which was phenomenal but didn’t need to be 3D. It looks like the new Jackass will take advantage of all three dimensions.

Check out the trailer if you’re into fish slapping, guys in gorilla outfits trashing living rooms, and drunken santas in falling trees. OR watch it if you have a crush on Bam Margera’s dad, Phil.

Will U see Jackass 3D in October?

Thor and Captain America To Go 3-D

kennethjoee.jpg

This may ease the pain from Clash of the Titans a bit. And yes, we realize that’s A LOT of pain to ease.

The upcoming Thor and Captain America films are confirmed 3-D films, and it looks like they aren’t go to half-ass it like Warner Bros did with Clash.

When asked about the decision to go 3-D, Thor director Kenneth Branagh had the following to say:

“We came to feel that in our case 3-D could be the very good friend of story and character for a different kind of experience.”

Here’s more from Branagh:

"It's another draft of the story that can reveal itself in a different way. I had a healthy degree of skepticism up front … I've become somebody extremely excited about working with possibilities of doing it this way."

And here’s director Joe Johnston with thoughts on 3-D Captain America:

"I think it tends to be overused and can be a little bit gimmicky. A lot of people are using 3-D now because they feel have they have to … that will come and go and the pictures that deserve to be in 3-D will continue to be. When it's done bad, it can make you carsick."

All right guys, it seems like maybe you know what you’re doing here. We’ll remain optimistic, but just remember…we’ve been burnt before. Don’t make us go through that again.

More Clash Of The Titans!!

kraken_1600x1200jb.jpg

Well this is a pretty fast turn around!

Regardless of its shiteous reviews, the 3D mind-numbing spectacle Clash of the Titans has done so well - $388.8 million - that a sequel is already in the works for Spring of 2012!

Director Louis Leterrier isn't interested in returning, but Avatar hottie Sam Worthington will apparently be back to furrow is brow and kill things as Perseus.

The openly gay TV writer Greg Berlanti will develop the story while the studio hunts for a new screenwriter and director.

Ooh! Maybe he'll bring some HOMOlicious SEKSI fun to the story! It IS Greek mythology, so we don't see why not!!

What do U think?? Are U interested in seeing a second Clash of the Titans??

James Cameron Talks About Riding The Avatar Cash Cow Even More!

If you think a silly little thing like being released on DVD will stop Avatar from bringing in the bucks from the big screen, then you are sorely mistaken!

The 3D smurf ca$h cow will be released on Thursday for your home entertainment, but director James Cameron has once again found a way to make some more $$$ - he'll be releasing the 3D film in theaters once again in August - but this time with added footage!

He says:

We’re working on finishing an additional six minutes of the film — which includes a lot of Weta work — for a theatrical re-release in August. We were sold out of our Imax performances right up to the moment until they were contractually obligated to switch to “Alice in Wonderland,” so we know we left money on the table there. And the 3-D really helped “Avatar” right up until the moment that it hurt it. And it hurt it at the moment “Alice” and then “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Clash of the Titans” came in and sucked up all the 3-D screens. We went from declining 8% a week to declining 50%. Clearly, it wasn’t market forces directly; it was the availability of theaters. So we’re going to wait until there’s a time to come back in, inject the new footage into the mix and see if we can interest people in the “Avatar” experience in theaters.

It’ll be interesting because it’ll be on DVD by then, but I think “Avatar” is kind of a unique category where people are enjoying the unique theatrical experience even though they may have seen it on the small screen. They want to have that immersive, transportive experience. “2001: A Space Odyssey” played for three years at the Loews cinema in Toronto. I remember that. It just kept playing. People wanted to return to that experience. That may not be the best example because I think “2001” took 25 years to break even.

He also spoke briefly about what to expect from the film's sequels - yes, he's working on a third:

We created a broad canvas for the environment of film. That’s not just on Pandora, but throughout the Alpha Centauri AB system. And we expand out across that system and incorporate more into the story – not necessarily in the second film, but more toward a third film. I’ve already announced this, so I might as well say it: Part of my focus in the second film is in creating a different environment – a different setting within Pandora. And I’m going to be focusing on the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won’t be a rain forest. I’m not saying we won’t see what we’ve already seen; we’ll see more of that as well.

Wow! He's going to be working on these movies for the next twenty years!

What do U think?? Will U see Avatar again in theaters?? Thoughts on sequels??

clashofthetitans_ps.jpg

America is in love with the 3D action flicks this season!

Warner Bros.' Clash Of The Titans has nabbed the number one spot for the weekend, with an estimated gross of $64 million!

Not the best numbers, but still #1!

Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too? managed to make it to #2 this Easter weekend with an expected $30 mil in ticket sales, followed closely by last week's number one flick, How To Train Your Dragon, grossing $29.2 million during it's second weekend at the box office.

Good deal!
