EXCLUSIVE: Clutter-Free Gift Ideas For Mom!

It's tempting to go out shopping and find as many bargains you can this Black Friday.

But Perezitos.com correspondent and organizing expert John Trosko has a better idea:

Gobble Down Black Friday Clutter-Free Gifts For Mom

According to the annual Black Friday shopping survey from The National Retail Federation, over 152 MILLON people are expected to shop in stores or online this coming weekend. Will you be one of them?

Before you head out into the frenzy to shop for gifts, consider giving thoughtful clutter-free gifts this year. Clutter-free gifts are gifts from the heart; offerings that are healthy, consumable, imaginative and not necessarily budget-busting. Think how you can gussy up the presentation of clutter-free gifts with bows, ribbons, nice boxes and wrapping paper.

· Neighbors, distant friends, business associates and colleagues –Try consumable gifts; homemade cookies, fruit or jam you canned personally, car wash coupons;
· Close friends and family – Consider gifting them with “experiences” and not stuff. A membership to the local museum, pottery, scrapbooking or horticulture club is thoughtful. Or a trial membership to Curves gym (if they won’t be offended) or a circus school program
· Kids – Theme park admission, circus tickets, science center membership, an arcade or family entertainment center gift card.

Window shopping quickly turns into impulse purchases. To avoid clutter avoid in-store shopping to get gift ideas and do not buy gifts for future gifting. Listen to gift-giving clues and make sure the item given is relevant to the person receiving it. Nobody likes a turkey (gift).

Keep it a happy, safe, and clutter-free holiday season!

Fall Is The Perfect Time To Get Organized!

John Trosko Organizer

Ahhh, Fall. The crisp air, the changing leaves. The household clutter.

Wait! That last one isn't so great! We should take care of that this fall, and that's why we're proud to introduce our newest contributor here at FitPerez: John Trosko!!!

Professional organizer John Trosko is Hollywood’s go-to-guy for shaping up those shoe racks and organizing those Oscars! (well, Emmys, Grammys and SAG awards too!) John is owner of OrganizingLA and a two-term President of the Los Angeles chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers. He’ll be joining us for productivity and personal organization advice.

And here is his first bit of advice for us — Fall organizing tips:

Make a Plan - Fall is excellent “downtime” season. Use this time to ask these questions: what do I want to get done by year’s end? How will I benefit if I accomplish this project? What are the resources, time and tools I will need?

Start Small – Break bigger projects into smaller manageable tasks—clean out a junk drawer or the coat closet, free up your desktop, clear out your purse or wallet– tasks that can be finished in an hour or less. Transfer the “start small” philosophy into larger traditional problem areas like the garage, office, closet or playroom.

Categorize – Harvest like items with like items in accessible appropriate places. Provide homes in labeled bins and baskets. Donate, repair, recycle, re-sell anything unloved and unwanted.

Value your time – Even at home, time is a valuable resource. Use a kitchen timer to set up limits for sorting and reviewing. Prioritize tasks to get the most important elements done first so you won’t get distracted from your primary purpose.

Reward Yourself – Following completion, a manicure, massage or a trip to the pumpkin patch are sure-fire simple incentives that encourage us to complete mundane tasks.

Fall Into Better Behavior – Put items away as-you-go. Set time on your calendar to review your new systems (also known as your organizational handiwork) and make changes if necessary. Remember, organization is really about long-lasting adjustments in behavior and not a status realized in one day!

Wow! Off to a great start, John! Thanks! AND WELCOME!!

Jennifer Aniston Is Selling Her Home

Wow! And after all of the renovations she did?!

Jennifer Aniston has recently revealed that despite dedicating two years to modifying her Beverly Hills home called Ohana, she has decided to put it back on the market - for the very reasonable price of $42 million!

She explains:

"I couldn't sleep and I sort of had one of those moments where I went, I really need to simplify. My life needs to be simplified and clear out the clutter. And along with that thought came, 'I should sell my house.' … I had the realization that this is just too much for me. I'm not this person. I don't know, I'm looking for little spots in New York City to go back home. There are all sorts of things that are going to be happening in the near future so I'm excited. I don't know what they are, but that's the fun part."

When you put it like that, it makes sense, bb!

Sometimes the best way to get your head cleared is to just make a big change! Best of luck looking for a new space!

Thoughts??
